Motivation Wireless networks in the battlefield are

highly dynamic, and they are very different than the Internet and wireless LANs.

However, Network control is based on algorithms designed

for graphs with point-to-point links in which interference is confined to each link.

No good understanding of the effects of the physical layer on protocol stack.

No good handle on self-configuring and robust protocols.

Mobility and interference are poorly understood. Wireless spectrum is utilized poorly, based on

fixed allocation of resources. Protocol layers have been designed in isolation.
