Named withthe founderof Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali

Jinnah.

Initially Jinnahprovided outdoor facilities.

1100 bedded Jinnahhospital Lahore became operational inthe year

1994,.

The hospital was formally inaugurated on February 2nd, 1996 by the

Prime Ministerof Pakistan and thenstarted the new era of quality

healthcare delivery inthe south western regionofthe metropolitan.

Inthe beginning, healthcare facilities were confined to limited

specialties.

Withthe passage oftime, more specialties and departments were

added.

Now, the Jinnah Hospital isproviding quality healthcare servicesin

almost all the specialtiesof medicine, surgery and allied health

Inthe year 2005 withthe inaugurationofnew 100 bedded Accident &

Emergency Department, Jinnah Hospital wasofficially notified by the

government as 1250 bedded teachinghospital.

Faisal Masud (born October 16, 1954) is the current Principal

Chief Executive of Services Hospital and Services Institute of

Medical Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan. His appointment as

principal was controversial as many more senior professors

were overlooked.

He became a Member of Royal College of Physicians,

Edinburgh, Glasgow and London in 1982 and a Fellow of Royal

College of Physicians, Edinburgh in 1998. His area of interest

is endocrinology.

Masud has 24 years of teaching experience.

employees, a satellite clinic ofMayo Hospital.

1960:Clinic named as Wahdat Hospital. Subsequently,

renamed as Services Hospital.

1977: Services Hospital became the teaching hospital for the

newly formedAllama Iqbal Medical College(AIMC).

1995: Teaching hospital for Postgraduate Medical

Institute(PGMI).

1999: Declared as autonomous. A management board was

setup to look after the affairs.

2002: Services Hospital declared as the teaching hospital for

the newly formed Services Institute of Medical Sciences(SIMS).

2002: The Emergency and Trauma Centre was setup in 2002

and is now being upgraded and modernized under the Chief

Minister's initiative of "Strengthening of Emergency Medical

Services" (SEMS).

2003:The Government of Punjab has established a unique, self

financing Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) for

undergraduate medical students and attached to services

Hospital.

2003 to onward:

Diabetic Management Center:The diabetic management

center at SIMS/SHL is one of the best in Asia. Its giant building

is also the best building in medical institutes.

SIMS hostels are considered most beautiful hostels among all

medical institutes in Pakistan.
