What is it about this time of year that’s so exciting?

Is it spring’s bright tulips breaking through winter’s grey? Is it the lush textures of summer — green leaves over our heads, cool grass under our feet, sand between our toes?

Whatever it is, I love it, and designing new pieces for JK’s Spring/Summer Catalog has taken me on a journey to the brilliance of nature’s sunny seasons.

In the studio, I’ve been inspired by color, texture, and pattern. Pieces like the Yellow Fleur de Lis and True Love Heart push the subtle JK palate in new directions. Texture plays a big role in charms like By the Sea, where the grains of the German Glass Glitter seem to bring both ocean and shore together. Necklaces like Loves Me Knot, with its hand-tied freshwater pearls, appeal to the senses, combining pattern and texture in visual and tactile ways. Janet Kinkade
