Jesus waits for us in this Sacrament of Love
“In the sacred Host, He is present, the true treasure, always waiting for us. Only by adoring this Presence do we learn how to receive Him properly.”
What is Eucharistic Adoration? Understood simply, Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honoring the Eucharistic Presence of
Christ. In a deeper sense, it involves "the contemplation of the Mystery of Christ truly present before
us". During Eucharistic Adoration, we "watch and wait", we remain "silent" in His Presence and open
ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist ... By worshiping the Eucharistic Jesus, we be-
come what God wants us to be! Like a magnet, The Lord draws us to Himself and gently transforms us. In its fullest es-
sence ... Eucharistic Adoration is "God and Man reaching out for each other, at the same time!"
The Eucharist is: Jesus truly present - Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity! At the moment of Consecration, during the Mass, the "gifts" of bread and wine are transformed (transubstantiated) into the
actual Body and Blood of Christ, at the Altar. This means that they are not only spiritually transformed, but rather are actually
(substantially) transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ. The elements retain the appearance of bread and wine, but are
indeed the actual Body and Blood of Christ. This is what is meant by Real Presence: the actual, physical presence of Jesus in
the Eucharist. Christ instituted this Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist in order to remain with mankind until the end of time (Jn.
14:18).

What is Lent?
Lent is the forty day period before Easter,
excluding Sundays, which begins on Ash
Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday (the
day before Easter Sunday). [This traditionally
enumeration does not precisely coincide with
the calendar according to the liturgical re-
form. In order to give special prominence to
the Sacred Triduum (Mass of the Lord’s Sup-
per, Good Friday, Easter Vigil) the current
calendar counts Lent as only from Ash
Wednesday to Holy Thursday, up to the Mass
of the Lord’s Supper. Even so, Lenten prac-
tices are properly maintained up to the Easter
Vigil, excluding Sundays, as before.]

Gospel Meditation
Today Jesus reminds us that following the letter of the law may give
us a false sense of holiness. Jesus drills down to the root of the Law in
several examples. While we may have not murdered anyone, Jesus
asks if we have acted in anger toward others. Do we perceive others
as objects of gratification rather than dignified persons created in the
image of God? Are others treated as commodities or servants rather
than one to whom I am pledged or called to serve? What are the mo-
tives behind our actions? Are they good and holy? We are not called
to simply observe the letter of the Law but the spirit too.
quienes estoy comprometido o llamado a servir? ¿Cuáles son los mo-
tivos detrás de nuestras acciones? ¿Son buenos y santos? No estamos
Word of Life “A political society endures when it seeks, as a vocation, to satisfy
common needs by stimulating the growth of all its members, especial-
ly those in situations of greater vulnerability or risk.”Pope Francis
nerabilidad o riesgo”. Papa Francisco

Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel, Matthew makes it clear that it is not
enough for disciples to refrain from murder, adultery or false
oaths. We are called to exhibit what Jesus did, the love and holi-
ness of God. However, none of us can do this alone. We are
given each other in the Christian community for guidance,
strength and support and we are given Christ himself in Word
and Eucharist. We are challenged to love beyond measure, but
supported to do so by God’s love poured out to each of us. To
whom are we called to be Good News this week?
