Jesus, Shepherd of Souls Parish Parroquia Jesús, Pastor de Almas
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PARROCO
This weekend we start one of the most Sacred times in our Catholic Church; Holy Week, when we celebrate with great devotion the Salvation brought to us by Jesus Christ through His Paschal Mystery.
We have been preparing ourselves in an environment of penance and other Lenten practices. With the celebration of Palm Sunday we remember the triumphant entrance of Jesus to the city of Jerusalem as the promised Messiah.
Here at Jesus, Shepherd of Souls we celebrate these important days with great solemnity. It is during the Easter Triduum that we experience united in prayer the deep meaning of the celebrations of The Mass of the Last Supper, the Good Friday services and the Easter Vigil.
The beauty and sacredness of these celebrations is made possible by the collaboration and dedication of all in our parish. We have those serving by the altar paying close attention to all that is needed during the services, Lectors proclaiming the word of God, Ushers and Volunteers giving the right directions, Musicians enriching our liturgies and our Environment team decorating our churches.
Let us continue the celebration of Holy Week with a prayerful spirit and thanking God for His Infinite Love represented in the person of Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior.
Have a Blessed Holy Week!

OBITUARY - JESUS, THE CHRIST OBITUARIES FROM CALVARY
FRIDAY EVENING EDITION
JESUS OF NAZARETH,
KING OF THE JEWS,
CRUCIFIED FOR BLASPHEMY CALVARY- Jesus Christ, 33, of Nazareth, died today on Mount Calvary, also known as Golgotha, the Place of the Skull. Betrayed by the Apostle Judas and rejected by His own people, Jesus was crucified by the Romans under the orders of Governor Pontius Pilate. Causes of death were crucifixion, extreme exhaustion, severe torture and loss of blood.
A descendant of Abraham, Jesus Christ was a member of the House of David. He was the son of the late Joseph, a carpenter, and Mary, His devoted Mother. Born in a stable in Bethlehem, Judea, Jesus is survived by His Mother, Mary; His faithful Apostles; numerous disciples and many other followers.
Jesus was self-educated and spent most of His adult life working as a Teacher. Jesus also occasionally worked as a Medical Doctor and it is reported that He healed thousands of patients. Until the time of His death, Jesus was teaching, preaching and sharing The Good News, healing the sick, touching the lonely, feeding the hungry, helping the poor and raising the dead.
Jesus was also noted for telling parables about His Father’s Kingdom and performing miracles amongst those who were suffering. These signs included feeding thousands of followers with only five loaves of bread and two fish as well as restoring the eyesight to a man born blind. On the day before His death, Jesus held a Last Supper celebrating the Passover Feast, at which He foretold the end of His Earthly Ministry.
His body was quickly buried in a stone grave generously donated by Joseph of Arimathea, a loyal friend of the family. By order of Pontius Pilate, a boulder was rolled in front of the tomb and Roman soldiers were put on guard. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that everyone try to live as Jesus did: by loving everyone- even enemies- unconditionally. Donations may be sent to anyone in need.

Pray for the sick... Oremos por los enfermos...
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
