Bad Times For God’s People

Jeremiah lived about 600 years before Jesus

Israel had fallen to Assyria

2 Kings 17:6 – In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria capture Samaria and carried Israel away into exile to Assyria….”

Evil #1 – Forsaking God

God refers to Himself as LIVING WATER

God Calls Himself A Fountain

Evil #2: Hewed Broken Cisterns

False gods like Baal Jeremiah 2:8 -- “The priests did

not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’And those who handle the law did not know Me; The rulers also transgressed against Me, And the prophets prophesied by BaalAnd walked after things that did not profit.

They Followed False Prophets

They Felt False Security

Deuteronomy 8:11-14 – “Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God…when you have eaten and are satisfied, and have built good houses and lived in them…then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God….”

False gods Ephesians 5:5 -- For this
