Jeopardy v4.1This version fixes some timer issues and updates the code to be compatible with 64-bit systems. The timer default is 30
seconds. To change it, go to the Setup menu.
First: in order to use this program, you need to enable macros. In Office 2007, it will automatically ask if you want to enable the
macros. If you have an earlier version, then use the setup menu to access instructions on how to enable them.
To use this, simply edit the names of the categories to fit what you need, and then enter your questions (and answers) on the
appropriate slides.
Once you’ve entered all the questions, run the show. You must hit the “Start Game” button on this page (it will make sure all the
questions appear). Click on the question chosen and that slide will come up. To start the timer, click the block of white squares.
They will tick off to show the passage of time. When time is up, a stop sign will appear. Click the stop sign to reload the timer.
To show the answer, click anywhere on the slide other than the timer or the back button. When the question has been
answered, click the word “Back” in the lower right hand corner to bring yourself back to the main page. Once there, click the
name of the team that got it right and enter the point value of the question. The score will be updated!

Write an equation for the following
statement: x is equal to 2 more than
half of y
𝑦 = 2 +1
2𝑥 𝑜𝑟 𝑦 =
1
2𝑥 + 2
Back
When we are solving an inequality,
if we multiply or divide both sides of
the inequality by a negative
number, what must we do?
Back
True or false? The absolute value of
a quantity can be defined as its
distance from zero on the number
line.
Back
True or false? The relation shown
below is a function.
5,−3 , 4, 6 , 5, −2 , 3, 4 , (2, −7)
False!
Back
What is the equation used to find
slope from two points,
𝑥1, 𝑦1 𝑎𝑛𝑑 (𝑥2, 𝑦2)
𝑚 =𝑦2 − 𝑦1𝑥2 − 𝑥1
Back
What form should we get both
equations of a linear system in
before solving by graphing?
Slope intercept form
Back
The equations 𝑦 = −5𝑥 + 8 and
𝑓 𝑥 = −5𝑥 + 8 are the same
equation, but are written in different
forms. What form is the second
equation written in?
Function notation!
Back
Graph the compound inequality on
a number line.
−2 < 𝑥 < 8
Back
Solve the equation.
𝑥 + 4 + 3 = 17
x = -18 or x = 10
Back
What are the two forms of a direct
variation equation that we
discussed in class?
𝑦 = 𝑘𝑥 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑘 =𝑦
𝑥
Back
Write the equations for slope
intercept form and for point slope
form.
Slope intercept form: 𝑦 = 𝑚𝑥 + 𝑏
Point slope form: 𝑦 − 𝑦1 = 𝑚(𝑥 − 𝑥1)
Back
How many solutions does this linear
system have?
𝑦 = −5𝑥 + 7𝑦 = −5𝑥 − 7
No solutions
Back
The lateral surface area of a
cylinder is given by the literal
equation 𝑆 = 2π𝑟ℎ. Solve the
equation for r.
𝑟 =𝑆
2πℎ
Back
Solve the inequality and graph the
solution.
25 − 2𝑥 < 11
𝑥 > 7
Back
Solve the inequality and graph the
solution.
3 2𝑥 − 1 ≥ 21
𝑥 ≤ −3 𝑜𝑟 𝑥 ≥ 4
Back
Does the function vary directly?
1,−3 , 2, −6 , 3, −9 , (4, −11)
No, the function does not vary directly.
Back
What is the slope of the equation
9𝑥 − 2𝑦 = 10
Hint: First convert to slope intercept form.
𝑚 = 9/2
Back
True or false? The linear system
shown below is both consistent and
dependent.
True!
Back
Solve the equation.
5 𝑠 − 12 − 24 = 3(𝑠 + 2)
𝑠 = 45
Back
Solve the inequality and graph the
solution.
3
8𝑥 < −6 𝑜𝑟 5𝑥 > 2
𝑥 < −16 𝑜𝑟 𝑥 > 2/5
Back
What is a solution derived from an
original equation that is not a
solution of the original equation
called?
Extraneous solution
Back
Is the graph shown below a
function? What test did you use to
determine your answer?
No, the graph is not a function. VERTICAL LINE TEST!
Back
Write an equation for a line in point
slope form that has a slope of -1
and passes through the point (-3,5).
𝑦 − 5 = −(𝑥 + 3)
Back
Without graphing, classify the
system as independent, dependent,
or inconsistent.
7𝑥 − 𝑦 = 6−7𝑥 + 𝑦 = −6
Dependent. (Same slope and same y intercept = same
line!)
Back
There is only one freshman in the
cast of a high school musical. There
are 6 sophomores and 11 juniors.
One third of the cast are seniors.
How many seniors are in the
musical?
9 seniors are in the musical
Back
Is the inequality always, sometimes
or never true?
4𝑥 − 8 > 1 + 4(𝑥 + 3)
Never true
Back
Solve the equation. (Make sure to
check for extraneous solutions!)
3 4𝑤 − 1 − 5 = 10
𝑤 = −1 𝑜𝑟 𝑤 =3
2
Back
Is this a direct variation? If so, what is the constant of variation?
2,7 , 4,14 , 8, 28 , 18,56
Write in simplest form.
𝑁𝑜!
Back
Write an equation of a line in point
slope form that is perpendicular to
the line y = 7x +4 and passes
through the point (-3,-1)
𝑦 + 3 = −1
7(𝑥 + 3)
Back
Without graphing, classify the
system as independent, dependent,
or inconsistent.
4𝑦 − 2𝑥 = 68𝑦 = 4𝑥 − 12
Inconsistent. (Same slope and different y intercepts =
parallel lines)

Instructions For Adding A Daily Double:1) Use Word Art to create a nice “Daily Double”.
2) Copy the word art to whichever slide(s) you want the Daily Double to be on.3) Go to the Animations screen and choose “Custom Animation”.
4) Click the Daily Double Word Art to select it and choose “Add Effect”. There should be a great number of entrances to choose from.
5) Right click on the element that was just added to the Animation list and drag it to the top of the list. Now right click and choose “Start with Previous”. This will cause the graphic to enter when the slide is shown. Now choose “Effect Options”. The second menu box
down should say After Animation. Click the arrow and choose “Hide on Next Mouse Click”. Click Ok.
6) Finally, click on the question (just the question) in the main screen. Go back to the custom animation panel and click Add Effect, then find the effect labeled “Appear”. Now,
when you go to the slide, you should have an appearing Daily Double graphic which disappears and shows the question the next time the mouse is clicked.
P.S. If you want to add a Daily Double sound effect, then when you go into the “Effect Options” menu to make it disappear after the mouse click, choose a sound to play.

Instructions For Turning On Macros:1) If you’re using Office 2007, then when the PowerPoint opens, there will be a status bar at
the top of the screen saying macros have been disabled. There is a button that says “Options”. Choose this, and then choose “Enable” and click OK.
2) If you are using earlier versions of Office, then it is a little more complicated:A) On the top menu, choose “Tools”
B) Choose “Security”C) Choose “Macros”
D) You will be given three options (Low, Medium, and High). Choose Medium.E) Click OK, then close PowerPoint completely.
F) Restart the program.
Macros should now be enabled. To check , try running the slideshow and clicking the “Start Game” button. If nothing happens, then feel free to email me at
[email protected], and I will try to help you out.
