It will be in the morning. I’ll need to confirm the time. I think either 9:00 or 9:30. It will most likely take place at the church across the street. Winter Break No School from December 18, 2010 – January 9, 2011. K K I I N N D DE E R R G G A A R R T T E E N N N N E E W W S S Meeting for Peace Assembly I’d like to meet with any available parents tomorrow, Wednesday, December 1 st to discuss the details of our Peace Assembly performance. We can meet briefly after school at 11:45. Sorry for the last minute announcement. If you can’t make it and have some ideas please just let me know. Writing Numbers 0 – 10 At one of the centers we did a quick assessment of where the children are with writing their numbers from 0 – 10 out of order. I noticed quite a few backwards 2, 3, and 7’s. The number 5 was tricky for many. Please have your child practice writing numbers on a regular basis, daily if possible. It’s helpful if you tell them the numbers randomly, out of order, to see if they can recall what each number looks like and then record it correctly. Homework The homework due this Friday was in your last Tuesday folder on November 23 rd . The stars will make our new bulletin board, so please make them colorful and fill in as much of the space as possible with your illustration. You will find the book Games We Play in your child’s folder. Please practice reading it and put it with his/her school collection. If you can, please find time have your child practice writing the word “play.” ** Charter Meetings** There are two very important meetings happening in December. We are trying to come to a decision regarding converting Open Plan to a charter school. The first meeting on December 9 th will help to address your questions and concerns as well as give you as much information as possible. Teachers will be present to go through this p rocess with you. Teachers are currently having in- depth conversations regarding the possibility of converting to a charter and we will share our thoughts as well as ask for your input on December 9 th . This is your opportunity to get the information you feel you need to make an informed decision regarding the conversion of Open Plan to a charter school. During the December 14 th meeting the Open Plan community will vote on whether or not to move forward and submit a charter petition to the district. This is your opportunity to influence this decision regarding the future of Open Plan.
