Theatre for Families• August 2–18, 2019Based on the beloved 1968 fi lm version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book and

featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins), the Th eatre for Young Audiences version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one family-friendly blockbuster that audiences will fi nd “Truly Scrumptious.” While truant from school, young siblings Jeremy and Jemima meet the beautiful Truly, who falls for their widowed father, Caractacus Potts, and his various oddball inventions, including the family’s noisy rebuilt car, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. One day at the beach, Caractacus tells Truly and the children a fanciful fable about the villainous Baron Bomburst and his evil designs on the Potts family car.

• Nov. 29–Dec. 8, 2019 Th e How I Became a Pirate

crew is back! A mysterious message left in the crow’s nest of their ship brings Captain Braid Beard and his pirate mates back to North Beach to seek out young Jeremy Jacob to help solve a riddle and fi nd the Christmas treasure. Favorite characters, a rollicking story, great songs, and a trip to the North Pole to fi nd “you know who” make Jingle ARRGH the Way! a wonderful holiday show for the whole family. Based on a story by Melinda Long, author of How I Became a Pirate.

monkey and his trusty human companion, Th e Man with the Yellow Hat, bring their fun-fi lled friendship to the stage in this live musical delight. And this time George’s endless curiosity—and a big-hearted desire to help his neighborhood friend and chef, Luigi—take George on a whirlwind, worldwide adventure to Europe for Th e Golden Meatball culinary competition. Come savor the laughs and adventure that abound from abroad as George seeks to prove Luigi is the best chef in the whole world!

Bryan Denton, a journalist who’s sympathetic to their plight, gives them some tips in public relations, as the newsboys’ battle grips the city.
