Jen Pepper BIO

Born in Toronto Ontario, Jen Pepper is a sculptor who now lives in Central New York. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in eighteen solo exhibitions to date and has participated in over fifty group exhibitions since 1990. Her work has been seen in venues including Ireland, Spain, Macedonia, Japan, Canada, New York City and other gallery and museums throughout the USA. Pepper’s work was exhibited in The Everson Museum Biennial in Syracuse, NY in 2008. She has been the recipient of granted awards including: The National Endowment for the Humanities, New York State Council on the Arts, New York State Foundation for the Arts and The Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts. Pepper has been an invited resident fellow to Sanskriti Art Foundation, Delhi, INDIA, Osage Artist Community, Belle, MO in 2009, Casa Museo SOLAINA DE PILOÑO, Galicia, SPAIN, The Weir Art Farm, Wilbur, CT, South Carolina National Park Art Resident Fellows, Hickory Knob, SC in 2008, Art Colony Galichnik in the Republic of Macedonia in 2006, Foundation Valparaiso, SPAIN, The Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts 2003, The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts 2002, Anam Cara Artists Colony, Co. Cork, IRELAND 2001, The Corporation of Yaddo 2000, Sculpture Space, Inc., 1997, Millay Colony for the Arts 1995, New York. Her work is included in the Flatfiles of Pierogi a gallery in Brooklyn, NY. She served as the co-juror for The Made in New York 2008 exhibition at The Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, NY. In 2004 and 2003 she was an invited artist to participate in the international site specific projects created for the city of Sumter, From the Outside In, with two of her exterior installations; “Buoyancy of Place” 2004 and “The Finger Poets” 2003. Pepper is an Associate Professor of Studio Art in the Division of Art + Design at Cazenovia College since 2003 in New York. She has served as the gallery director of Cazenovia College Art Gallery since May, 2005. Prior to this appointment she taught full time at Alfred University from 2000-2003. Pepper received her BFA from The Maryland Institute College of Art in 1987 and her MFA degree from The University of Connecticut in 1989.
