Sew the hat to the face. It will look like this:

Measure 15 ½ inches up from the chenille strip to the top of the hat, along the center seam. Make a mark. I used a 30 degree ruler to make my first cut, but you can use the 30 degree line on your large ruler. Cut the hat at a 30 degree angle to the bottom of the chenille trim.

Measure 13 ½ inches from the bottom of the moustache to the tip of the beard on the center seam of the beard. Make a mark. Cut the beard at a 30 degree angle.

Your diamond will look like this:

Finishing:

To finish the tree skirt, you have many options. We used 35 2 ½ inch strips of 35 green and black fabrics. We cut it as follows:12 2 ½ x 18 ½ inch strips12 2 ½ x 14 ½ inch strips12 2 ½ x 10 ½ inch strips12 2 ½ x 6 ½ inch strips12 2 ½ x 4 ½ inch stripsAssemble a triangle by sewing 2 2 ½ x 18 ½ inch strip right sides together. Sew a 2 ½ x 14 ½ inch strips to either side. Sew a 2 ½ x 10 ½ inch strip to either side. Sew a 2 ½ x 6 ½ inch strip to either side, then a 2 ½ x 4 ½ inch strip to either side. Press.

Trim across the bottom. Then measure 17 ½ inches from the bottom center seam. Mark. Cut on a 30 degree angle to make a triangle.

Make 12 triangles. Sew a triangle to either side of Santa’s face. You will end up with 6 big triangles that will then be sewn together to make your tree skirt.

You could also use one fabric and cut twelve 17 ½ inch equilateral triangles.

Quilt the tree skirt. Trim.

Mark a 5” circle in the center where the hats meet. Cut from the outside edge to the circle on a seam. Cut out the circle. Bind around cut edges.

Sew ties to the circle ends.
