Devora K. makes lovely head coverings with jelly rolls! She writes: Hi, Liz. I'm not a quilter, but I'm using many of your jelly roll fabrics to make headcoverings for observant Jewish women. (Married women cover their hair for reasons of modesty.)  I just love these!  

 (Tichel, with a guttural “ch,” is the Yiddish word for a cloth headcovering.) 

 Devora has an Etsy store (Tichel’d Pink) with her head coverings available!   I couldn’t help but think how wonderful it would have been to have a tichel for my mom when she lost much of her hair during treatment for breast cancer. (She’s doing great now!)  Thanks so much Devora!

     Speaking of Quilts of Valor, we donate most of our leftover fabric to the Aurora, IL QOV! Rita P. sent me in a few pictures of quilts made with some of our donations!    

   Isn’t this stunning? I need to make a pattern for this.  A couple brown/tan blender jelly rolls would be perfect!       These women really do amazing work. Rita, thanks so much for sending these in:

Cappy from Colorado Springs, CO makes soft pottery out of jelly rolls!  

  

 

 

  She writes:  I haven’t used your jelly rolls to make quilts, I’m using them to make soft pottery!  Using jelly rolls (versus a yard or so of fabric) for this craft is so convenient…especially since all material is color coordinated so nicely.  I further cut each strip into five ½’ strips, wrap them around about 70‐75 feet of a cotton/poly clothesline, and then sew it all together into a beautiful basket.   These baskets are just incredible!!          Pam F. made this quilt! I miss these fabrics, Pam! Some of my favorites.  

        

Alison W., the creator of the circular quilt on the “cover” page, also made this amazing quilt! This one blows my mind a little. Tutorial forthcoming!
