MY HEART THE DRUM
My heart the drumBeat, beating to the beat
As the beat flows through it goes just as my feetThe drummer hands slows down the beat slows down
As the lady starts to cry her crown falls down Pick your head up your crown is falling
Again the beat starts but it’s a different player I mean really a player , My heart with so many layers
He skipped a beatIt’s time for my heart to take a seat
No what I’m my own 1, 2, 3 beatMy heart the drum
Like a drum my heart never stops beating for you
LOVE
Your love is like a blanket that keeps me toasty warmYour love is like a shield that protects me from harm Your love is like a chocolate velvet smooth & sweet
I never knew I could love like youYou show me math love a simple idea but its complicated
SOUR PATCH
I am a sour patchFirst I’m sour than I’m sweet
Try to take a biteOut of me
I’m the key To the sweet
Smelling like sugar so sour and sweetFeeling a little bumpy
I’m shape like little kids Different colors yummy
To my tummy
ELIJAH

Not only does slavery still existBut I still care for those who are slaves
Not only does slavery still existBut there is one way to stop those days
Not only does slavery still existBut I shall not fear one nor twoNot only does slavery still existNot only does slavery still exist

MONEY UP AND GONE
My money went missing It jumped out my pocket
Ran to the store bought an ice creamOr maybe he just got up & walked out of here
Did he really get up & go?
OF COURSE
Of course I noticed a reflection of pain in her eyesTrying to figure out why she has put up with all of these years
When mom makes it home my smile will be fake Bruises turn brown like Salisbury steak
She says it tough loveHitting me like she had a boxing glove
It’s real Of course it’s real
THIS IS WAR
How you going to trip over a different race killing anotherBut you out here killing our brothers
Still out here killing each otherGoing to the store buying guns like it’s a clothing store with a double door
They die everyday bullets ricochet in every wayOut here is hard like sedimentary clay
Why don’t you join the militiaYou visited my country & you thought it was a 6 six day war
Don’t come it’s a warning of warThey drink the incidents up like they had a key to a free liquor store
You want to fight overnight If this country was a overnight flightWe’d be like Malaysia airlines planes
Broke down into 2 levels of chainsThis is not Africa not a campaign We’re not to fight
Take the weapon like a toxic waste sightDump it all out
Stop beyond any doubt

PASSING TIME
Langston HughesBeen scared and battered.
My hopes the wind done scattered.Snow has friz me,Sun has baked me,
Looks like between 'em they doneTried to make me
Stop laughin', stop lovin', stop livin'--But I don't care!
I'm still here!Meaning
Langston wrote this poem years ago to express that he’s still living life and still enjoying the days despite many obstacles .
STILL HERE
Emily Dickinson“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -I’ve heard it in the chilliest land -
And on the strangest Sea -Yet - never - in Extremity,It asked a crumb - of me.
HOPE IS THE THING WITH FEATHERS
Shel Silverstein
Let’s have one day for girls and boys
When you can make the grandest noises.
Screech, scream, holler, and yell—
Buzz a buzzer, clang a bell,
Sneeze—hiccup—whistle—shout,
Laugh until your lungs wear out,
Toot a whistle, kick, a can,
Bang a spoon against a pan,
Sing, yodel, bellow, hum,
Blow a horn, beat a drum,
NOISE DAY
Use a drill, drive a nail,Turn the hose on the garbage pail,Shout Yahoo—Hurrah—Hooray,Turn up the music all the way,Try and bounce your bowling ball,Ride a skateboard up the wall,Chomp your food with a smack and a slurp,Chew—chomp—hiccup—burp. One day a year do all of these,The rest of the days—be quiet please.
Edgar Allen PoeTake this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow —You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown awayIn a night, or in a day,In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream
A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM
I stand amid the roarOf a surf-tormented shore,And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand —How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,While I weep — while I weep!
O God! Can I not graspThem with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not saveOne from the pitiless wave?Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
