Qualification Summary: Mechanical Designer I have worked as a mechanical designer for over 30 years and database administrator for approximately 10 years. My diversified mechanical design experience includes programs, in power tool development with Black & Decker and Dewalt Mfg. In automated machine design with Advanced Manufacturing Systems and production machinery with United Container Machinery. At Chamberlain Mfg. munitions production machinery and development of XM56 Smoke Obscurance System for the military. Currently, and for the past 15 years, I have been working in the design and development of Aerostat vehicles for commercial and government applications. Designing for mass production and one off type equipment has enabled me to understand and apply design principles as related to each specific environment. This has additionally provided me with knowledge and understanding of manufacturing practices and capabilities. Implementing pneumatic and hydraulic systems exposed me to reliable cost effective methods for lifting and driving mechanical systems. These projects also incorporated electronic systems for control and monitoring of production activities. Packaging of the electrical components, and mounting of sensors for the various design projects, was accomplished through collaboration with electrical engineering personal. Completion of the design effort for these programs developed my knowledge and experience on multiple 3D Modeling Cad programs. I am a Solidworks Administrator; I also have several years of experience using the following 3D Cad Modeling software programs, Catia, SDRC Ideas, Cocreate Solid

Design and layout concepts for Aerostat Mobile Mooring System. Designs include mechanical and electromechanical assemblies. Mechanical assemblies included Capstan Mooring Unit, Storage Drum Unit and Structural Electromechanical Enclosures for airborne and ground controls.

Layout and designs were created using Solidworks 3D Modeling software.

Cad and Database Administrative duties included supervision of design drafting team, and administration of Solidworks Product Data Management (PDM) software.

Management, training and implementation of Engineering Revision database.

Checking and Approval of all engineering documentation for release to manufacturing.

Database Administrator for Agile Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) software.

Black and Decker / Dewalt Manufacturing, Towson, Maryland September 1997 - May 1999 Black and Decker / Dewalt is a world leader in the development and production of hand and machine power tools.

Mechanical Designer Designed tools for industrial applications specifically the European

market. Program was to develop a combination saw for the European

marketplace. The tool was to function as a table saw and miter saw. Design emphasis was to achieve maximum cutting capability;

complete a highly accurate cut and a quick change over method for the user.

Six-sigma was employed throughout the design process to ensure effective cost and accuracy of unit as related to manufacturing process.

Catia 3D Modeling software was used for all design and drafting.

United Container Machinery, Glen Arm Maryland March 1995-September 1997

United Container Machinery is a manufacturer of corrugated and finishing machinery for the corrugated industry.

Mechanical Designer Designed machinery for printing and die cutting process of corrugated

board. Machinery employed electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Program was to develop a combination saw for the European marketplace. The tool was to function as a table saw and miter saw.
