“ What is important to me is the essence of an object. Flying Surface is reminiscent of a blank canvas, suggesting the essential fragility of light.”– Jean Nouvel

Luminous rectilinear forms mount in striking patterns on ceilings and walls or ap-pear to float in space, suspended from adjustable cables. Here is a lighting approach that is simple to the point of abstraction.

Conceived by celebrated French architect Jean Nouvel for Spanish lighting manufacturer Troll, Flying Surface delivers soft, soothing, uniform illumination while encouraging the creative arrangement and interplay of its pure form for unusual visual effect.

Advanced materials assure appropriate transmission of light with highly refined uniformity. A special white textile material on an acrylic base conceals the steel inner body housing an enhanced reflector and T8 fluo-rescent lamps.

With optional electronic dimming, the 2’x2’, 4’x4’ and 4’x6’ Flying Surface luminaires provide the variation needed for designers to inject high drama into virtually any interior space.
