Applications Separate components of the
integrated JDE software suite such
as Job Cost or Payroll.
System Code JDE software suite numbering
system. For example Address Book
= 01, Accounts Payable = 04 and
Purchasing = 43. Used for
numbering screens, reports,
programs, etc.

Interacts directly with the system database in real time. Program
name begins with “P”.

Applications
Settings behind the programs control what is displayed and how
the application will perform. Programs are tailored to meet
various company requirements.
Interactive Applications - Specific
• An electronic rolodex file of contacts, address information,
phone numbers, email information, etc.
• Contains records for any entity that could have an address.
• Examples are: employees, customers, suppliers,
subcontractors, jobs, ship to addresses, companies, tax
authorities, carriers, banks, etc.

Screen Terminology
JDE Term ExplanationForm Screen within an application that displays data in either a grid
or a tabbed format.
Menu Bar A group of actions that can be performed on the displayed
form.
Header The top portion of a form used to:
- filter results in the lower portion of the form on a search
screen
- enter common data for all records on a data entry screen.
QBE (Query by Example) Data filter “row” at the top of many grids to specify or narrow a
data query on a search screen.
Grid Lower portion of many forms displaying the filtered results of a
“query” in rows and columns.

Select Button Selects the checked record.
Find ButtonFinds records based on the search criterion in the header or QBE
line.
Add ButtonAccesses the screen/form used to add a new record to the
database.
Copy Button Copies an existing record.
Delete Button Deletes an existing record (if the system permits it).
Close/Cancel
ButtonExits/quits the screen/form or program. Back up one screen/form.

RowContains selections that “exit” the user to a new program for the
selected row in the grid.
ReportContains selections that “exit” the user to reports related to the
module or the currently selected application.
ToolsContains selections of applications or system tools such as Import,
Export, Data Browser and Grid Format.

Batch Engine)
A program that queues up and waits its turn to run and update the
database. Usually process large numbers of records and/or
produces a report. Program name begins with “R”.

percentage of completion.
