OUR HISTORY

Arvind Mills Limited is set up by three brothers - Kasturbhai, Narottambhai & Chimanbhai lalbhai with a share capital of 2,52,000 (USD 55,000), backed by state-of-the-art technology, with the aim to produce high-end super�ne fabrics.

1931

Arvind establishes itself amongst the foremost textile units in the country with sales reaching 45.76 lakhs and pro�t of almost 3 lakhs.1934

Arvind records highest levels of pro�tability at a time when the textile industry faces major crisis. Their strategy - ‘renovision’ points at changing the business focus from local to global, towards a high-quality premium niche market.

1980

Arvind enters the export market for Denims with a dual focus - Denim for leisure and for fachion wear.1987-88

Arvind produces 120 million meters of Denim annually and becomes the third largest producer in the world.1996

Arvind sets up India’s largest state of the art facility for shirting, gabardine and snits at Santej. The group also establishes a modern e�uent facility, with zero e�uent discharge capability. 1997

Arvind creates an aggressive retail strategy. A one-stop shop service is set up on a global scale, o�ering garment packages to reputed national and international customers.2005

Arvind, with a strategic vision to be the largest apparel brands company in india sees new partnerships. International licences of Lee, Wrangler, Arrow & Tommy Hil�ger hang in the Arvind closet alongside its own domestic brands such as Flying Machine, Newport, Excalibur & Ruf’n’Tuf.

2007

Arvind takes a major leap by expanding in organised retail through its value chain called “Megamart” and also strengthns its portfolio with brands like US Polo, lzod and Cherokee. Arvind commissions India’s �rst ammonia treatment plant for high-end fashion fabrics, for indian and international markets.

2009

Arvind forays into real estate in a big way announcing mega projects including a 90 million sq. ft. residential township in Ahmedabad.2009 - 10

2014 - 15Arvind SmartSpaces gets listed in Bombay stock exchange and National stock exchange.

2011-12Arvind Lifestyle acquires India operations of Debenhams, Next, Nautica.

2012-13Arvind Lifestyle signs agreement for licenses of Hanes.

2013-14Arvind Lifestyle Buys 49% stake in Calvin Klein in India.

2010-11Set up joint venture for marketing Tommy Hil�ger brand.
