Press Wheel Mounting Instructions Before you begin, verify the “package contents” to ensure all items are included. Step #1: The press wheel scrapers (fig. (a), (b), & (c)) are mounted with a 1/2” bolt in an existing hole on the top of the press wheel frame towards the front of JD 7000, 7100 and Kinze planters (fig. (c)). On newer models of the JD 7200 and 7300 planters a 1/2” hole needs to be drilled 1 1/2” back from the front and in the middle of the press wheel frame. Assemble a scraper & lay on press wheel frame to mark where hole needs to be drilled. Step #2: Attach the scraper bracket with a 1/2” bolt. Adjust left and right scrapers so the half moon notches fit over the press tire leaving enough clearance so the tire does not drag. (fig. (a) & (b)). Tighten the 1/4” nuts. NOTE: Clean old residue and dried mud each day before starting to plant to prevent wheel drag. Gauge Wheel Mounting Instructions Before you begin, verify the “package contents” to ensure all items are included. Step #1: Remove gauge wheel and arm from the planter and clamp in a shop vise so the grease zerk is up and exposed for welding. NOTE: If you have the new style gauge arms that have O rings inside the gauge arm mount, before welding the four-sided key stock put a wet towel in each end of the holes of the arm so you do not melt the O rings. Weld a little on each arm which will avoid over heating and burning of O rings or take out O rings before welding. Step #2: Place gauge wheel scraper blade centered between the outside edges of the gauge wheel, 1/2” below the grease zerk on the gauge wheel arm. (fig. (d)) Check again to see if the wheel scraper blade is cen- tered. Then weld all four sides of the square stock. Remove grease zerk from first arm welded and use it in all other units. This will save replacing all grease zerks after welding next to them and also protect grease zerk threads. NOTE: NOTE: use a 1/8” 60 or 70 series stick rod with the welder set at 130- 150 AMP AC or DC or .030-.035 wire welder with gas or flux core. Have ample ventilation while welding to avoid breathing fumes. Step #4: Adjust scraper blade on each wheel so it misses the gauge tire and lets it turn freely. Tighten the 1/2” bolt (fig. (e)). Place the gauge wheel back on the planter making sure to replace the spacer washers where needed for proper clearance of the disc. fig. (a) fig. (b) fig. which is gentle on wheels and extremely

    durable

    - Scrapers are adjustable in and out - up and

    down to fit any contour

No Hand Cleaning = More Planting

ABOUT THE WHEEL SCRAPERSThe Gauge and Press Wheel Scraper consists ofan adjustable poly blade or a metal blade (forJD press wheel scrapers) that keeps the depthwheel clean and mud-free allowing you to keepan even and consistent seed depth. Mud buildup can lead to shallow plantings, delayed emer-gence and overall reduction in yield. With theGauge and Press Wheel Scraper you will beable to spend more time on the tractor with notime cleaning your depth wheel. No down timecleaning the wheels equals more acres plantedper day. The Gauge Wheel Scraper easily weldsor bolts onto most planters and once the WheelScraper is installed, with a one wrench design,it will conveniently flip out of the way whenyou are not using it.
