JCOP Version 8 – Asset / People Protection
• Agreement between construction world, fire authority and insurance world;
• Over 25 yrs in use;
• Applies mandatorily to contracts with an original value of £2.5+M;
• Applies to all parts of a contract where overall value is £20m+;
• Special requirements for large TF projects;
• Can be applied to any “high risk” contract regardless of value;

• Heating / drying / de-humidifying units 110v and removed at end of day;
• Turn utilities off at end of day (except life safety systems);
• Automatic fire detection system to TAU’s with off site monitoring BS 5839 ( unless 24 hr guarding provided);
• Reduce foam plastics – polystyrene fall arrest bags prohibited;
• Hot works monitoring for 1 hr and revisited 2 hrs after before closing permit.

• Applies between £1m - £2.5m;
• No smoking except at designated areas;
• Hoarded or weld mesh fenced site;
• HW by permit and JCOP;
• Waste, flammables and gases removed each day to a safe distance - reasonable;
• Burning of waste prohibited;
• Refuelling in the open as far away as possible;
