Qu’est-ce qui rend Sidoti différent de la plupart de ceux qui chantent, écrivent ou font les deux à la fois ? Franchement, je ne le sais pas avec certitude mais je suppose que c’est son visage et son origine ethnique et culturelle. Piero sait beaucoup de choses et il ne les dit pas toutes d’un seul coup, mais il part de loin comme tous ceux qui viennent du nord du mystère et qui peuvent parler d’une pute brésilienne qui travaille entre Gorizia et Fiume et vit avec un petit singe qui décortique des cacahouètes et des graines de courge. Je ne sais pas si vous avez compris que je me trouve enfin devant quelque chose de vraiment différent, avec des yeux qui sentent plus qu’ils ne voient et des oreilles faites exprès pour écouter de mystérieux couchers de soleil ou des aubes sur la mer.Sans entrer dans la jungle des mots et dans le piège de la rhétorique, je vous donne le seul bon conseil pour apprécier ce disque : prendre son souffle, le retenir et se plonger dedans jusqu’au bout.

What makes Sidoti different from most of those who sing, write songs or do both? To tell the truth, I’m not absolutely sure but I suppose it’s his face and his ethnic and cultural origins. Piero knows lots but he doesn’t tell everything in one go; he starts off a long way away like all those who come from the far side of mystery, and can talk about a Brazilian whore who works between Gorizia and Fiume and lives with a little monkey that spends its time shelling peanuts and marrow seeds. I don’t know if you’ve realised by now that I’m faced with a truly different phenomenon here, with eyes that smell more than they see and ears deliberately designed to listen to mysterious sunsets or sunrises across the sea.Without entering the jungle of words or falling into the trap of rhetoric, I’ll give you the one piece of advice that’ll help you appreciate this record: take a deep breath, hold it, then plunge right in and go all the way through to the end!

Avec autant de fierté que de détermination, Niño Baliardo retisse les liens de cette communauté éclatée que l’origine incertaine, l’esclavage, la dispersion, et les persécutions ont fédéré en peuple, sans patrie certes, mais sans frontières. A ses côtés deux de ses frères : “Nanasso” Baliardo guitariste aussi discret et mystérieux que musicien et instrumentiste remarquable et “Bébé” Baliardo guitariste émérite et doté d’une voix qui lui permet d’affronter n’importe quel contre-chant même le plus périlleux.

Niño Baliardo is undoubtedly one of the last great specialists of the Cante Jondo, the ‘deep song’, the primitive and intensely dramatic style of Andalusian flamenco singing which requires a profound sensibility and great expressive capacities. In order to relate the odyssey of the Gipsy people, Niño Baliardo has created a show called Le Grand Voyage from which most of the titles on the present album are taken. On stage, his Gipsy Family is enriched notably by the participation of Dhoad, a group of Gypsies from Rajasthan.With pride and determination in equal measure, Niño Baliardo, in his music, forges anew the links between this scattered community which its uncertain origin and its experience of slavery, dispersal and persecution have federated into a people, without a homeland, to be sure, but just as surely without frontiers. By his side are two of his brothers: ‘Nanasso’ Baliardo, a guitarist as discreet and mysterious as his musicianship and instrumental skills are remarkable, and ‘Bébé’ Baliardo, an outstanding guitarist who is also blessed with a voice that allows him to tackle any countermelody, even the most perilous.

Sonny Amati Schmitt est un des fils de Dorado Schmitt. À seulement 16 ans, sa notoriété a largement dépassé les frontières de l’hexagone. Digne héritier de son père, Amati possède déjà une solide expérience de la scène. Il s’est notamment produit aux côtés de Dorado au Festival « Jazz à Vienne » en 2010. et pendant six jours, à l’occasion du festival Django Reinhardt, au Birdland de New York où il fut félicité par Leonardo Di Caprio venu spécialement pour l’occasion. De nombreuses places fortes du jazz l’ont déjà programme en France : Festival de Jazz de Lyon, de Monaco, de Colmar sans oublier le New Morning à Paris. Pour son premier album personnel, Amati Schmitt est entouré de son frère Bronson Schmitt à la guitare rythmique, Xavier Nikq à la contrebasse et Dorado Schmitt au cajôn péruvien et au violon. Le programme de ce premier album est un habile et savant dosage de valses, de swing, de bossa et de ballades dans la plus pure tradition Reinhardtienne.

Sonny Amati Schmitt, one of Dorado Schmitt’s sons. He’s only 16, but his reputation has already spread way beyond national borders. As his father’s worthy heir, Amati already has some sound concert experience behind him. He appeared alongside Dorado in the Jazz in Vienne Festival in 2010, and for six days of the Django Reinhardt Festival he played at New York’s Birdland Club, where he was congratulated by Leonard Di Caprio, who’d gone there specially to hear him. Several of the well-known jazz strongholds in France have programmed him, e.g. the Festivals of Lyon, Monaco, and Colmar, not forgetting the New Morning in Paris.For his first individual album, Amati Schmitt is accompanied by his brother, Bronson Schmitt, on rhythm guitar, Xavier Nikq on double bass and Dorado Schmitt on Peruvian cajón and the violin. The programme here is a deft combination of waltzes, swing, bossa and ballads in the purest Reinhardt tradition.

Il était donc l’heure pour le groupe de donner à entendre ces moments privilégiés de simplicité et de bonheur partagé au travers d’un voyage musical d’une grande qualité.C’est avec beaucoup de talent que le groupe présente dans une version “live” quelques uns des titres phares de son répertoire : des chansons comme Mademoiselle Marseille ou Ò que calor sont teintées d’une nouvelle coloration, plus rugueuse, plus rock et prennent du coup une autre envergure. Un nouvel éclairage, des versions différentes attestent de la qualité indéniable du groupe sur scène. Il avait déjà su donner les preuves de son talent créatif au travers des quatre albums studio et révèle aujourd’hui (pour ceux qui n’auraient pas encore assisté à un concert) son incroyable énergie communicative.

Jean-Jacques Milteau aura parcouru au propre comme au figuré bien des itinéraires géographiques comme musicaux. De la Chine à l’Afrique du Sud, de Nashville à La Nouvelle-Orléans, de l’Irlande au Mexique, c’est un musicien curieux de tout, avide de toutes les nouvelles rencontres, toujours prêts pour toutes les expériences musicales.En 1973 : il publie son premier enregistrement pour Le Chant du Monde : le volume consacré à l’Harmonica dans collection Special Instrumental. Le même label publiera Blues Harp en 1980 et Just Kiddin’ en 1983. Ce double album retrace donc les premiers albums d’un harmoniciste devenu pour la première fois leader d’un groupe et comment il est ainsi devenu l’ambassadeur de cet instrument à travers le monde.

Jean-Jacques Milteau has travelled many different roads in both the geographical and musical sense of the term. From China to South Africa, from Nashville to New Orleans, from Ireland to Mexico, he is a musician whose curiosity knows no bounds, avid of making new acquaintances and always ready for any musical experience that might cross his path. In 1973 he published his first recording for Le Chant du Monde, the volume dedicated to the harmonica in the “Special Instrumental” collection. The same label published “Blues Harp” in 1980, and “Just Kiddin’” in 1983. This double album retraces the first recordings of a harmonicist, who for the first time has become the leader of a group, and explores how he became a worldwide ambassador of the instrument.
