2nd Annual Festival at Terranea Resort Will Spotlight

Jazz Through the Generations

Hosted by non-profit organization Freedom4U, afternoon concert will highlight musical

partnerships between jazz legends David Benoit, Paul Smith and Barbara Morrison and

up-and-coming artists

Rancho Palos Verdes, CA On Sunday July 25th South Bay non-profit organization

Freedom4U will host its 2nd Annual Jazz Through the Generations festival at theoceanfront Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. A leading provider of youth art and

music programs in the South Bay, Freedom4U has structured the festival to highlight the

importance of mentorship in the arts. Each established Jazz artist will perform with a young

musician that they have mentored.

Headlining the event will be smooth jazz pioneer David Benoit, who will perform with 19-year old drummer Sammy Miller, last years receipt of the prestigious Spotlight Award. PaulSmith, a renowned Jazz pianist who served as Ella Fitzgeralds musical director and

accompanist will perform with his trio, which includes his grandson, Alex Smith. Rounding

out the afternoon will be vocal Duo Barbara Morrison and Alistair Tober. Morrison, a

favorite of Los Angeles jazz scene, and Tober, an up-and-coming-crooner and USC alumni,

recently completed a national tour in tribute to the music of Harold Arlen.

Sponsored by KJAZZ, the festival will be hosted by local radio personality Leroy Downs. All

proceeds from the event will support local youth music programs.

Jazz Through the Generations will provide a day of wonderful music in an idyllic location

right on the Pacific Ocean, building on the tremendous success of last years festival saidGreg Allen, Director of Freedom4U. We hope that this event will highlightthe importanceof mentorship in the development of young people and offer inspiration for budding

musicians and artists.
