Engineering Management Skills Successfully managed the product development and product introduction process in a fast paced and highly competitive business environment. Have successfully developed four different range of office partition systems in a span of one year. Development responsibilities include product design, engineering of production methods, and vendor management. Trained team of production and installation technicians. Oversaw batch lot production and site installations of new products. Have been trained by engineers from Klöber—Germany in the manufacture of articulated and upholstered chairs. Have also been trained by late Christopher Sykes of Element International who was internationally acclaimed for his Element range of office partition systems, designed for SteelCase.

Summary

During the last twenty years I have worked as Design & Development Manager in companies of various sizes, some among the biggest and most versatile, others small and nimble creative groups, both in India and Canada. In this time, I have designed and developed 50+ products in a large variety of fields most of them boosting the employers revenue considerably. I offer complete product development services, integration beyond industrial design, mechanical engineering, mould-making pre-production support ,and sourcing of suppliers and manufac-turers in Toronto.

Abbey Store Fixtures Ltd. was a leading international de-signer and manufacturer of retail store environments for cli-ents like Polo Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, and others through Amity Wood Works and idX.

Extensive portfolio encompasses several lines of fixtures, ar-chitectural millwork, merchandising programs, boutiques, fashion and cosmetic environments.

Engineering Manager — 2006 to 2008

Responsible for all phases of high-end store fixture, project planning including design detailing, product development, and releasing new products. Oversaw product design for compliance with engineering principles, organization stan-dards, customer contract requirements, and related specifi-cations. Ensured all the documents needed for a project were completed and secured.

Planned and formulated engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements. Assigned projects to specific for technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and Engineering drawings. Cre-ated and maintained all project plans. Coordinates and main-tains quality assurance while minimizing possible risks on the project.

Managed and executed projects for clients like Polo Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, and others through Amity Wood Works and idX.

Provided design and engineering support to

Keilhauer’s external design firm to design a Filo Chair

base. The unique feature of this chair base is that it is

split into 3 parts to impart flexibility to the base for

better ergonomics.

Engineering Inputs:

Modified the basic surface model to incorporate

bosses for affixing upholstery and removed undercut

situations. Modified the design for injection mould-

ability. Detailed out the joining for mid-section elastic

band. Engineered part design to avoid warpage and

distortions of glass filed nylon frame.

Indian Furniture Products Ltd.

Manager–Design & Dev. 2000 to 2002

Formerly operated under the name : Indian Furni-ture Products

Responsible for strategic and tactical action plan to design and launch office furniture product line.

Responsible for engineering, design, pre-production, new product launch and overseeing installation of new products at first few sites.

Oversaw work of:

5 designer, 2 vendor development engineers,

15 site installers.

Formerly operated under the name : Indian Furni-ture Products

Responsible for strategic and tactical action plan to design and launch office furniture product line. Identified potential markets and led product de-

velopment initiatives from concept to full-scale production.

Led a team of eight engineers and technicians in designing and developing four types of office partition system.

Resulting in revenues of CAD 2. 8 million in two years.

Blow Plast Ergo

DEPUTY MANAGER – Design & Dev. 1998 to 2000 Responsible for designing and developing office range of furni-ture under guidance of internationally renowned Canadian designer Christopher Sykes.

Designed four different range of office systems furniture, including a budget range of office chairs.

Guided and supervised the construction of prototypes for office chair and teamed up with the quality assurance de-partment to validate the design.

Oversaw work of:

3 Designer, 10 dedicated new product development engineers.

Designed and developed a range of modular range of conference table.

Know-down, modular construction, per-mits wide variation in layouts.

CONCEPT / IDEATION: Use of Urban Jungle as a metaphor to design an unique product form.

WORK TOP: MATERIAL : Special glass which exudes a warm feeling, while rendering an image of exclusivity.

PROCESS: Molten glass laid in layers, with colour frit form which renders each layer to create

depth.

UNDERSTRUCTURE: MATERIAL : Aluminum

PROCESS: Investment casting
