INSTITUTIONAL PLANNING
2018-19
AND
VIDYALAYA CALENDER
PREFACE
Planning is the budge word behind every successful endeavour. Periodic
planning and systematic strategy leads the process of progress towards a particular
goal in a precise and perfect manner.
Keeping in view the time constraint in achieving multiple objectives in a
definite period this Institutional planning is going to serve as a guide and a watch
dog in monitoring every sphere of activity.
The plan of activities are basically divided into three heads on the basis of
short term, medium term and long term goal of an effective schooling system. All
attempt is being made to accommodate the requirements of all stake holders and
follow the directions of NVS scrupulously.
Hopefully the document will serve the purpose with the help of team
JNV,Dhenkanal and put this Vidyalaya at a better place than before.

NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA AT A GLANCE
The National policy of Education launched in 1986 envisaged that in order to
achieve “National Integration” in a topsy-turvy world, it is the finest and foremost
duty of the teachers to orient the child from an early stage towards national
Integration. To achieve this goal Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous
organization was set up as a registered under the Ministry of HRD(Deptt. of
Education) Govt’ of India to establish and run Navodaya Vidyalaya-Co-Ed
Residential –an average one in each district of the country.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
1. To promote National Integration.
2. To provide opportunities to talented children for the development of their
full potentialities.
3. To promote good quality modern education including a strong component
of culture, inculcation of values, adventure activities, awareness of the
children predominantly from rural areas, without regard to family’s socio-
economic conditions.
4. To ensure the reasonable level of competence in three languages as
envisaged in the three-language formula.
5. To serve in each district as focal points for improvements in the quality of
school education in general through sharing of experiences and facilities.
JNV, SARANG—A BRIEF VIEW
Earlier JNV, Sarang, the only one school of the undivided district of
Dhenkanal started in an old repaired building of Rengali Dam Site in the year
1986 with strength of 72 pupils in class-VI. After 11 years, it was shifted to its
permanent site i.e. Sarang situated on the bank of river Brahmani. It was
inaugurated on dt-30-12-97 with strength of 76 pupils in class-VI. The most
important feature of this Vidyalaya is that N.H. 42 is running in its front that
makes the school well communicated.
At present, the school is running in full swing with strength of 524
students. The scenery inside and outside the campus fascinates the passersby. The
Lighting arrangement and the location of the building create the picture of a
university in the mind of the onlooker.
Inside the school, building two water coolers are installed
to provide cool water to the children. In the dining hall, two more Kents have
been installed in order to provide fresh drinking water for the students. The
Vidyalaya has installed a RO System plant of 500 litres capacity per hour to
provide pure portable drinking water to the students.
Besides it, the Inverter facility is there to help the children in their
study. Students live in the campus like sons and daughters of the concerned
House Masters/House Mistresses under their love and care.

them to understand their responsibility towards society. In view of this the NSS
committee of the vidyalaya is endeavouring to instil the sense of being one with the
society under the able leadership of the following staff members.
ECO. CLUB: - Co-ordinator– R.Behera TGT (SCI)
When ‘Sustainable –development’ is the need of the hour, the ecology is given utmost
importance. The ‘Eco-Club of our Vidyalaya has strived hard to make the campus
Green and clean. The rising of the global –temperature has forced the scientists to
brood over the alternative way to save this Planet,’ Save the Earth and Save the
humanity’- that has become the mission of this Eco-Club.
With the whole-hearted Co-operation of the District Horticulture Department
10 acres of plantation has been possible. In order to make this plantation drive a
successful one, the Principal has taken the initiation for ‘drip irrigation’ which will
solve the problem of watering and make the plants alive for years to come. With the
sincere effort of the Principal a Medicinal and Herbal Garden has been developed by
the side of the Guest House.
Besides it Vermi Compost and ‘Green –house effect chamber has been
constructed.
In order to enhance the beauty of the campus Rose, Gladiolus, Enca plantation
is there.
All these have been possible due to the able guidance of our Hon’ble Principal
and sincere & dedicated effort of our Eco-Club Co-ordinator and children.
The last, but not the least achievement of this Eco-Club is that our Principal has
been honoured with the ‘Prakruti Mitra’ award, one of the prestigious awards of the
district.
‘Tree is life’ ----- the mission of the Club
