What is JARUS?

• JARUS is the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems
• The group aims at drafting harmonized regulation to cover
all aspects of UAS operations

• JARUS is a group of National Aviation Authorities working on harmonized regulations for UAS
• EUROCONTROL and EASA are active participants
• JARUS is open to all NAAs for participation
JARUS focus

• Develop draft proposals for all aspects of UAS regulation.
• JARUS intends to contribute to other rulemaking efforts (regional and worldwide)

• The JARUS group clearly intends to contribute to other groups, not to compete with them
• Draft material developed by JARUS will be provided to
EUROCAE WG 73 (and RTCA SC 203 and NATO Flight In Non-Segregated Air Space)
• JARUS agreed to act as an authorities contact point for EUROCAE WG 73

• A new draft version of Certification Specification for a Light Rotorcraft UAS (CS-LURS) is almost done to be presented to EUROCAE WG 73
• It’s expected finalizing draft of AMC 1309 up to the end of
2012; and draft of organization document up to the end of 2013.
JARUS OPS Group Status

• UAS Flight Crew License (FCL) regulation drafted and provided to EUROCAE WG 73 for further development
• UAS OPS regulation to be drafted next (not started yet)
JARUS 1309 Subgroup Status

• Group continues to work on system safety requirements (1309):
Revisiting definitions of hazard classifications Equivalent risk approach, related to kinetic energy
• Detect and avoid will be addressed in a new WG
JARUS future activities

• The group is considering the following activities: Certification Basis for Light Unmanned Aeroplane
Systems Operator requirements
• Implement new organisational form for the group
More regional oriented parts of the group
