INTRODUCTION Hibiscus rosa-sinensis was named by Carolus Linnaeus. The Latin term rosa-sinensis literally means "rose of China", though it is not closely related to the true roses. Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is the national flower of Malaysia , called Bunga Raya in Malay .
