1804 is the sexiest date in American numismatics as mostdenominations bearing this date are quite rare. The 1804 dollar is legendary. The mintage on this $2 1/2 was a mere 3,327 coinswith an estimated 150 to 200 survivors. A few were struck with a 13 star reverse but only about 10 are known. This 14 Starexample is exceptional for the grade. The strike is even and sharp and the surfaces retain considerable mint luster. The eye appeal is excellent and is enhanced by an absence of adjustment markswhich are typically found on this issue.
