This past November you as members had the chance to visit

Seattle for this rare event! Josh Sundquist kicked off this

four day conference with his inspirational and comical

presentation. This led into the days of informative breakout

sessions ranging from college informations to competition

help. Your chapters got to bond while doing active GeoTeam-

ing, and the conference came to a close as friends, advi-

sors, and state officers took the stage for some hilarious

hypnotism. But, wait . . .There was more! As members of

Washington DECA you had the exclusive opportunity to be pri-

vately hypnotized at the Washington Only closing session.

You also got to hear the owner of Dick’s Drive-In talk

about how his iconic Seattle restaurant came to be while

participating in the some fun trivia for prizes! It was a

packed four days for DECA members across the Western Region

to Ascend and Thrive in preparation for ICDC in Anaheim,

California. I hope many memories were made and all of you

from Area 7 who attended had a great time!

The Movement is an international student-driven fundraiser for the Mus-

cular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in which all of DECA can participate.

This project has been organized by former

Oklahoma State Officer, Jay Koontz, and DECA’s

National Officer Team. The goal of The Move-

ment is to strengthen the MDA-DECA partner-

ship by uniting chapter efforts to support MDA

through community service or by raising funds

for MDA research. Get involved simply by

raising money for MDA and serving them in

your local community. A toolkit will give ideas for fundraisers and

service opportunities. It will be sent to each chapter when they join

online at https://www.ourmvmt.com/join.

Washington DECA has supported the Ronald McDonald House Chari-

ties for about 5 years now. The

purpose of the Ronald McDon-

ald House is to of- fer families a

home away from home while their

children are under- going treatment

for various diseas- es and conditions.

Families are asked to pay $25 a

night, but some cannot meet this.

This is where Washington DE-

CA comes in. At FLC and SCDC

“Miracle Minutes” are held and raise

almost $2500! That can provide

help for 100 fami- lies.

Every year, your State Officers set a monetary goal, as a state. This

There will be a Miracle minute

at Area Conference, re-

member to bring your spare

change to donate!
