For Saint Paul, the mystery revealed by the Holy Spirit consists in that "the Gentiles are coheirs" of the same inheritance God promised. Today, on this great solemnity of Epiphany, the Church celebrates the revelation of our Savior to all nations, represented by the encounter with the three wise men who travel from the East to see the newborn babe in the manger in Bethlehem. Customary symbols accompany the celebration: the star that guides the wise men, the light the Child Jesus is for all who search for peace, and the meeting of believers and non-believers. God calls us together to gather us in his love, and he calls us to become one family where peace and reconciliation reign. How do we welcome our neighbors and friends who do not share our faith? Have we tried meeting with the leaders of other communities, Christian and non-Christian alike, to give thanks to God for all the good things we share in our society?

Today, on this great solemnity of Epiphany, the Church celebrates the revelation of our Savior to all nations, represented by the encounter with the three wise men who travel from the East to see the newborn babe in the manger in Bethlehem. From the Desk of Father Kurt This weekend we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, which means that God is made manifest. There are traditionally three events that are associated with this feast, the arrival of the three Kings, the Baptism of our Lord, and the wedding feast of Cana. These events all reveal God being made manifest to us in the person of his Son Jesus Christ. Gift giving, baptisms, and weddings are times when we can feel love being generated and this makes us feel good and happy. God wants us to have a similar experience as we celebrate together God manifesting himself amongst us as Love itself.

In this cruel world that we live in it is so difficult to imagine a God who is pure love, and yet, if we allow ourselves to be embraced by the manifestation of God’s love for us, we in turn can be the manifestation of God’s love for others. In so many ways I witness each of you manifesting God’s love for your families and the needs of others. You inspire me to keep the faith and continue my own efforts to be the manifestation of love as a priest. I also want to personally thank all of you for the wonderful expressions of your love for me this Christmas and for all the wonderful gifts, cards and goodies.
