Message from the Pastor The readings this weekend
present us with Jesus’ open struggleagainst evil spirits. There is abattle ground: a man’s body. Thereare bystanders, spectators as if for acompetition, people who are curious,also people with faith. Jesus overcomes evil spirits withthe strength of his word, and the man is freed. Morethan an isolated story, this is a real manifestation ofwhat the saving mission of the Lord means. With thisgesture, Jesus wants to tell us that He came to bring usspiritual freedom. The evil spirits still roam around inour time, in our streets and cities. And the samestruggle between good and evil still goes on, daily in thehearts of each person.
Jesus comes with his word to deliver us from evil.He comes to uproot from our hearts the spirit ofselfishness, to cleans us from hatred, and to instill in usa new spirit.

se nos presenta la lucha abierta de Jesús contra el espíritudel mal. Hay un campo de batalla: el cuerpo de unhombre. Hay espectadores como para una competencia,gente curiosa o gente que tiene fe. Jesús, con la fuerza desu palabra vence al espíritu malo y el hombre quedaliberado. Más que una historia aislada, es unamanifestación realista de lo que significa la misiónsalvadora del Señor. Con este gesto, Jesús quiere decirnosque vino a darnos la libertad espiritual. El espíritu del malsigue caminando también en nuestros tiempos, pornuestras calles y ciudades. Y la misma lucha entre el bieny el mal se repite a diario en cada hombre.
Jesús con su palabra viene a librarnos del mal.Viene a arrancarnos el espíritu del egoísmo. A limpiarnosdel odio y a darnos un espíritu nuevo.
