May 2018: CLCA Generates free leads for producers Recent CLCA website data reveals the top 5 counties with eligible responses and leads generated are Los
Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Sacramento and San Diego. If you do business in any of these counties,
you're in luck because this is the highest demand area for CLCA insurance. Marketing and outreach efforts target
prospective consumers through online and on-the-ground grassroots campaigns.
Sign-up for free leads
Lead generation campaigns attract visits to the CLCA
website where the consumer is prescreened and
qualified. The qualified consumer then has the option
of completing an online application, selecting an area-
agent, selecting an agent with preferred
language, or have their information sent to a Lead
Accepting Producer (LAP). If you are interested in
receiving complimentary leads, please get certified to
receive those leads by visiting the "For Agents" page at
www.mylowcostauto.com and select "For Agents" at
the very top of the homepage.

Interesting articles
We mine and collect articles and resources that may be of
interesting to feature. This month we brign attention to the
national crisis of growing poverty in this USA Today article. In
California alone: Bakersfield, Fresno and Sacrmento have
experienced the largest increase in concertrated poverty since
2010 compared to the rest of the nation. For CLCA, this means
more households in these 3 cities may be eligble fo rthe CLCA
benefit.

August 2018: Know Your Customer
Knowing your customer often takes digging through data to
plan your marketing. Unique demographic data from the
Los Angeles County Office of Public Health was recently
released. The City and Community Health Profiles series
presents a broad array of indicators known to impact
health and well-being. The reports in this series can be
drilled down city by city and contains a wealth of
information that can support how business can serve
specific community needs. Our efforts are to educate and
inform the public about this program. By downloading and
reviewing current data available about the CLCA customer
base, you may also unveil other knowledge about barriers
that affect insurance purchasing decisions and create new
sales opportunities. We acknowledge that these are health
profiles but the relevancy of these reports underscore key
issues in these cities or communities and perhaps how
customers are making purchasing priorities. We encourage
you to examine your existing city market and consider
builidng your CLCA business in those cities with potentially
larger CLCA target populations. Should other similar
erports become available in other counties, we will be sure
to let you know.
August Marketing Opportunities
With heat waves and fires blazing across our state,
here is a one-stop resource to help your customers
without air condition to find cooling stations. A
safety awareness campaign is an optimal marketing
tool for the summer.

an example of the types of reports
available to you.
With a population of 64,032, 91% of
the residents are Latino. 62% are
between the ages of 18-64. 38% are
below 200% of the Federal Poverty

September 2018: Policy changes ahead
Amendment to CLCA Program Eligibility
Good news! Effective October 1, 2018,
changes to eligibility requirements expand
eligibility to more households. Prior to
the change, consumers were not eligible
to enroll if other vehicles in the financial
household were insured elsewhere. With the new changes,
consumers no longer have to enroll all vehicles in the
household, but rather just those registered to the
applicant, still with a limit of 2. Motorcycles and
commercial vehicles are excluded. Additional clarification
language, and small changes to the application are being
made to assist with this change. Click here to review the
policy changes. Reach out to AIPSO/"CAARP" with questions
by email to [email protected] or call (800)622-0954.
September Marketing Opportunities
With summer behind us, now would be a good time to refresh
your plans. A good place to start is your customer list. When
was the last time you checked your customer list? Do you
have current contact information? Have there been any
changes to the household size and income? Are there new
drivers in the household? If you are able to, set-aside a small
budget for a special promotion or giveaway for customers who
update their contacts. Autumn would be a great time to
update your customer records, right before the holiday
season.

Communication tip: Texting Service
Have you ever received a text from a
restaurant to let you know your table is
ready? How about a text from your dentist
to remind you about your
appointment? These notices work and
customers read them. Research indicates
that the read rates for text messages are
significantly higher than any other
electronic communication and social
media. Text reminders are only a few of
the creative ways some of our agents are engaging their
customers and communicating efficiently with them. There
are also texting services where you can automate reminders
such as appointments, documents required, deposits and
premium reminders. Next time, think about sending a text
message instead of an email or phone call to your
customer. Remember to get your customer's permission
before you sign them up for any text services.

October 2018: 19,000 Enrolled
Thank You Producers
Thank you for being a valuable part of the
CLCA program. With your support, over
19,000 vehicles are enrolled in California’s
Low Cost Auto Insurance program.
Thousands of households are saving
money and driving responsibly. This is the highest number
of vehicles enrolled in the program since its inception in
1999.
October Marketing Opportunities
Early this year, the program expanded
eligibility to include emancipated minors
16 to 18 years old. This allows
independent teenagers an opportunity to
enroll in CLCA. Marketing to this target
population includes visiting places such
teen centers, school districts and legal
aid. You may visit your local establishments and offer your
services as a CLCA certified producer. Attach a business
card to one of our rack cards and establish contact with
these places. If you would like to accompany our Outreach

November 2018: California Food Banks
To participate in the CLCA program, policy holders must be
within 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. Many of these
families are living paycheck to paycheck and barely have
enough savings to cover car repairs. This month, we put
the spotlight on one of our partners, the California
Association of Food Banks, and the work they do to feed
over 2 million Californians. Nearly 1 in 8 people face food
insecurity every day, where there is a constant lack of
access to the food one needs for a healthy, active life. For
the 4.9 million Californians struggling with food insecurity,
hard choices must be made between buying food and
meeting basic needs such as housing, medicine,
transportation, insurance, or childcare. Food insecurity
disproportionately affects children and seniors.
November Marketing Tip
Have you tried sending out
handwritten notes? Most businesses
don't realize the power of a
handwritten note. Spending the extra
5 minutes for your most valuable
customers may be worth the extra effort. Order your CLCA
notecards today by emailing us.

CA Food Banks Feed Over 2 Million
Food banks play a critical
role in California’s food safety net, reaching over
five million people in need,
including children, seniors,
the working poor, disabled,
homeless, and veterans.
Establishing a recurring monthly donation can be one of the
most meaningful ways to support your local food bank,
especially since donations tend to taper off after the
holidays. By supporting your food bank all year round, you
can ensure quality, consistent service to those in need no
matter the season. Sponsoring a food drive in your office is a
great way to give back. To make a donation to your local food
bank, please contact them directly. Find your local food bank
using the Food Bank Finder .

Zero Rate Changes in 2019
The biggest news for existing
CLCA and new customers is rates
will remain the same in 2019. The
CLCA program will continue to
offer affordable low cost auto
insurance rates to qualified
California drivers. We expect the
zero hike to draw in even more
drivers seeking affordable
insurance to meet basic liability insurance needs.
