Job Description

Job Title: Charity Shop Retail Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £15,500- £17,000 per annum (Dependant on experience)

Contract: Permanent

Based at: My Sight Nottinghamshire, 34 Derby Road, Stapleford, NG9 7AA but may be required to work at of our other branches, within Nottinghamshire, as and when required.

Reports to: Fundraising Manager

Purpose of the Job

My Sight Nottinghamshire is a local charity, which supports people living with sight loss across the county, ensuring they have the same life opportunities as everyone else. In order to provide our services the organisation carries out many different types of fundraising activities. As part of our fundraising activities we run a small chain of charity shops and an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our retail team.

We are looking for a self motivated, customer service orientated individual with plenty of retail experience to manage our well established charity shop in Stapleford.

The successful applicant will have proven management and organisational skills and be confident enough to work on their own initiative. They will be responsible for the profitable operation of the shop, achieving agreed income targets, sourcing and sorting donated stock, visual merchandising, management and recruitment of volunteers and the promotion of the work of the charity in the local community.

We are a small team and so the right candidate will be given a great deal of autonomy; it’s is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has the drive and commitment to help us realise our retail fundraising ambitions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To ensure the shop sales performance is maximised, actively seeking ways to improve the shop’s performance on a continuous basis.

Direct responsibility for cash handling and banking including cashing up at the end of each day, protection and prevention of fraud and the keeping of appropriate records.

To provide excellent customer service.

Responsibility for visual merchandising, window dressing and overall layout, appearance and cleanliness of the shop and ensuring that this is of a high standard.

To present a positive and professional image to customers, staff and volunteers at all times, being an ambassador for My Sight Nottinghamshire.

To act as key holder; to ensure the shop is open during agreed trading hours and ensure that the premises are secure on leaving. To respond to emergency call out if and when necessary.

Control of the security of the shop premises and the protection of stock.

To recruit, train, support and supervise volunteers working in the shop.

To ensure that the shop is adequately staffed at all times and establish appropriate rotas for staff and volunteers.

To generate stock donations to meet sales requirements; accept, sort, price and display stock appropriately

To ensure maintain effective and accurate records of sales and donated income and goods, that sales performance is readily analysed

To ensure that all queries about My Sight Nottinghamshire’s services are signposted to its main office and that information held at the shop is up to date

Ensure that Health and Safety Requirements of the shop are met and updated in accordance with employment and retail laws and good practice.
