In my absence you will have the wonderful opportunity to hear my friend Ronnie Brewer. Until recently Ronnie was the pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Madison. This fall he was elected to be Coordinator of Alabama CBF. In this position he gives leadership to the Coop- erative Baptist Fellowship in our state. First Baptist is an active participant in this mission fellowship, and we welcome our new leader as he will preach for us in both morning worship services. I will miss you on Sunday as Jane and I take some vacation days, but I know that you will be in good hands as Ronnie preaches in worship. My trip this week means that I will miss the funeral service for David Langley. We were greatly saddened by his sudden death. He had been ill for a few days last week, but we all were surprised and stunned by his death. Our prayers go out to the entire Langley family at this time. David was a faithful member of our church staff for over twelve years. He welcomed people into the Christian Life Center as they would come for recreation or for special events. He hosted outside groups who used our building and was present for church programs that happened in the CLC. He was an important part of the Christian Life Center ministry, and his presence behind the welcome desk will be missed. Whether serving as an usher on Sunday mornings or greeting people as they came to play ball, David Langley was a “doorkeeper in the house of the Lord.” I am most grateful for his service to our church and to his Lord.

I will be out of town this week and will miss being with you on Sunday. In my absence you will have the wonderful opportunity to hear my friend Ronnie Brewer. Until recently Ronnie was the pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Madison. This fall he was elected to be Coordinator of Alabama CBF. In this position he gives leadership to the Coop-erative Baptist Fellowship in our state. First Baptist is an active participant in this mission fellowship, and we welcome our new leader

as he will preach for us in both morning worship services.
