1 State Teen Council News At the February KY 4-H Teen Council meeting, delegates competed in Resume Writing and Mock Interviews. Perry County 4-H-er’s Skyler Hubbard (HHS) took first place in the Interviews! With Skyler are the State 4-H Officers. KY 4-H Livestock Skillathon 2018 Perry County 4-H had two senior teams and one intermediate junior individual to join the other 242 4-H’ers from across the state in the 2018 KY 4-H Livestock Skillathon held in Bowling Green. Johnny Johnson was recognized in ninth place for Individual Evaluation. The senior team of Johnny, Laurynn Amburgey, Jacob Suffridge, and Cameron Turner were also recognized ninth place in Overall Scores. The KY 4-H Skillathon is an annual competition in events including different breed identification of livestock, external parts of livestock, skeletal anatomy of livestock, feedstuffs used in livestock diets, equipment using in raising and showing livestock and in processing meat, wholesale and retail cuts of meat derived from livestock, expected progeny differences (EPDs), common calculations used to measure animal performance and profitability, judging hay, judging meats, and judging performance classes of livestock. Pretty intense agenda! Senior Team Members include Laurynn Amburgey, Jacob Suffridge, Johnny Johnson, Cameron Turner, Jordan Grigsby, Kelsey Martin, Jasmine Woods from PCCHS. Junior 4-H Member, Morgan Dobson, is from EPE. Coaches are Ms. Becky Dobson and Mr Jason Brashear.

AG TAGS Kentucky communities have the opportunity to support 4-H, FFA, and KY Proud programs by electing to take the KY Farm tag. Proceeds help support programs to promote education and leadership in home counties.

Hazard Middle 5th Graders Teach Ms. JoAnn Hall’s 5th graders recently became the teachers to the 4th graders in the Energy Fair. Using the 4-H/N.E.E.D. ElectroWorks and Energy stations, each 5th grade team taught the energy concepts to the 4th graders in static electricity, chemical energy, electromagnetic energy, circuits, magnetism, mechanical energy, and kinetic energy. There were nearly 80 4th graders to rotate through the ten booths so the 5th graders had their work cut out for them, but

they did an awesome job of working with the others from Roy G. Eversole. You can tell from the pictures that both groups enjoyed themselves.
