We are a premiere Veterans Health Administration facility providing specialty care to our nations heroes. We appreciate your time and desire to serve. In order to become a regularly scheduled volunteer, you must meet the following qualifications: • Be 18 years or older • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Non-Citizen with a VISA a Social Security Number (non- citizens, please submit a copy of your VISA). The steps to becoming a volunteer: 1. Click here to fill out the application, save it as *LASTFIRST* and email it to VHATAMVoluntaryService@va.gov once completed. You will sign the application at your interview. A Voluntary Service Specialist will contact you. 2. Meet with Voluntary Service for an interview. 3. Submit to a background investigation through fingerprinting in Building 41. 4. Submit to a TB Skin test (PPD) Occupational Health. The Skin Test must be read 48-72 hours later by Occupational Health. TB tests are only done Mon-Wed and Friday. You may elect to do this with your own provider. We accept both Quatiferon Gold and PPD. If you are positive for TB, a chest X-ray is also accepted. 5. Attend Orientation - your Specialist will schedule this with you. Assignments for volunteers include: Whole Health, Nutrition, Morning Coffee Service, Feeding, Assisting Recreational Therapy, Escorts, Tram Drivers, Logistics, Clerical Positions, Greeters, Kiosk Assistance and our prestigious Red Coat Program. Other occasional volunteer opportunities include: National Salute Week, National Volunteer Week, Make-A-Difference Day, Veterans' Day Ceremony & Parade and Holiday Gift Distribution.
