herapeutic Behavioral Ser vices(TBS) are individually tailored

interventions designed to teach childrenand youth new skills to help them managebehaviors that, if unchecked, will resultin out-of-home placement. TBS is anancillary service requested by a child’smental health provider when otherinterventions have failed to adequatelyaddress these extreme behaviors. CasaPacifica Centers for Children andFamilies delivers this program througha well-trained interdisciplinary team ofprofessional staff. In providing theseservices, Casa Pacifica focuses on workingcooperatively and collaboratively withthe child, their family, communityagencies, and other professionalsinvolved with the child and family.

BS Services Are For Children Who:

• Are full-scope Medi-Cal, and

• Meet MHP medical necessary criteria, and

• Currently receive specialty mental health services, and

• Are at risk of being placed in an RCL 12 group home or higher RTP, or

• Are in an RCL 12 group home or above setting and are at risk of being placed in a higher level of care, or

• Are transitioning from a RCL 12 group home or above setting to a lower level of care and need support and help to make the transition, or

• Have had a psychiatric hospitalization within the past two years or are currently at risk of hospitalization due to a mental health problem.

TT B S T r e a t m e n t P l a n sidentify which problematic behaviorsneed to change, as well as replacementbehaviors which will be taught to thechild and family. Since communicationbetween the caregiver and other involvedagencies is a key to success, treatmentteam review meetings (consisting of thechild, caregiver, the referring therapist orcase manager, and the TBS staff ) areheld at the end of 30 days of service andevery 60 days thereafter. During thesemeetings, any pertinent history or informationis shared openly within the team and theneed for the continuation of TBS servicesto the child or youth is re-assessed.
