SPORT NATION

• This program involves students in positive extracurricular activities (sports) to help raise confidence and improve overall attitude toward school, eventually leading to higher graduation rates in Syracuse City Schools. The program provides out of season leagues, training, transportation to events, equipment, and tutoring.

LOGICAL APPROACH

In our community there is too much low graduation rates.The rate is currently 0.52. It would be much better to be closer to 0.6.This problem is a result of A lack of involvement in positive extracurricular activities.. (Bush, 2003).

students in grades 9-12 will participate in Sports Nation, a program that provides opportunities for students to play sports

the outputs will be a monthly count of how many students in grades 9-12 sign up for and participate in the program

The percent of Negative feelings toward school and poor self-confidence will be lower for those participating in the program as compared to those not participating.

The percent of the graduation rate of those involved in the program will be higher will be lower for those participating in the program as compared to those not participating.

The community problem of low graduation rates will decline from the current amount of 0.52 closer to the desired lower level of 0.6.
