Aligned Incentives

The Founder Institute employs a unique Bonus Pool where everyone shares equity in the companies formed from each semester. Each Graduate contributes 3.5% of their company equity in warrants to a 10-year Bonus Pool with other peers from the current semester.When one succeeds, everyone receives financial upside.

Andi S. BoedimanAndi S Boediman is a serial creative entrepreneur with ventures such as IDS|International Design School and Admire|integrated marketing communication. For the past 5 years, he has been advising government and companies in the future of creative industry and how it will affect the entire value chain, including the development of vocation based curriculum in Indonesia and incubation model for creative industry. His exposure towards consumer products, especially in the field of brand & design, has led him to the understanding of consumer insight that can be applied to various aspects of marketing communication, brand building and activation. Andi recently launched his incubator program, Ideosource.

Andy ZainAndy Zain is regarded as one of the mobile industry pioneers. Since 1999, he had involved in numerous 'industry first' initiatives, such as the first ringtone service, the first mobile portal, first mobile banking and m-commerce service in region. Founder of Elasitas, a leading content aggregator in Indonesia and solution provider with deployments across telcos in Asia Pacific. Andy is now the Managing Partner of VentureX, a private equity boutique focusing in telecommunication, media and technology sector in South East Asia and overseeing operation of several mobile services in Indonesia. Actively involve in the Indonesia Chambers of Commerce and Trade as Vice Chairman in Content & Application Committee (ICT), and a founding member of IMOCA (Indonesia Mobile and Online Content Association). He also run the local chapter of MobileMonday in Indonesia, part of the global networking forum for mobile professionals.

Batara EtoBatara Eto, was born in 1979 in Indonesia. He graduated from Engineering Department of Takushoku University in Tokyo, Japan. He is the co-founder of mixi, the largest Social Networking Service in Japan. He proposed mixi in December 2003, and he was in charge for the development of the site. He served as Chief Technology Officer in mixi until 2007. He is a well known for advocating the use of the open source LAMP stack, Perl, MySQL and the Apache web server, especially in Japan. In February 2008, he set up his new company called Etolabo Corporation. His new company is developing a couple of web applications that have not been released.

Didi NugrahadiIn 1998, Didi and his friends founded Detik.com, now one of the largest online news portal in Indonesia. Following the success of Detik.com, he founded a portal called dagdigdug.com and Salingsilang.com. Besides working on his startups, he is also managing two leading marketing and PR companies, Integrated Marketing and Agrakom Para Relatika (agrakom PR, PR Consultant).

Eka GintingEka is one of the pioneers of Internet business in Indonesia. In 1995, he started Indo.com, not only one of the first Indonesian Internet companies, but also one of the only few that can survive and is still exist until now, and profitable. Eka is currenlty busy developing REDD carbon credits through restoration of forests in Central Kalimantan Province and repatriation of orangutan into their natural habitat.

Izak JenieIzak is the Founder of PT MMS, the company behind the proliferation of content in the Nexian handset. With a vision of providing cheap communication amongst Indonesian, Izak created Nexian Messenger, which successfully grabbed 5 million users in only 8 months and has 2,5 million active users per month. Nexian Messenger now delivers more than 1 billion messages every month and is still growing at 40% per month. Izak also designed a soon to be launched mobile payment system. In early 2011, part of the company was acquired by Spice Group, an Indian-based conglomerate. Prior to PT MMS, Izak founded Jatis Group, a leading IT leading company in Indonesia. Izak started Jatis with only a few people and grew it to become a 500-employee company with dozens million dollar in revenue. Izak then served as a member of the Board of Directors of Jatis for 11 years. During his tenure, Jatis spread its operation to Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand. Jatis received multi-million dollar investments from credible venture capital firms such 3i (UK), ITG (Singapore) and Sumitomo Corporation (Japan). Shortly after the Sumitomo Corporation investment, Izak left Jatis to pursue his interest in the mobile content industry. He currently serves as a external technology consultant for Jatis Group. Izak is also known as the architect of big and mission-critical system in Indonesia, with a wide spectrum of industries, including banking, manufacturing, and telecommunication. He is the architect of the largest Internet banking and mobile banking in Indonesia.

Kartini Muljadi SHMrs. Muljadi is the founder and senior partner of Kartini Muljadi & Rekan, one of Indonesia's most distinguished corporate and commercial lawyers. For many years, Mrs. Muljadi has provided counsel to business leaders, government representatives, practicing lawyers and academics, from within Indonesia and overseas. She has advised many leading domestic and international enterprises on their investments and operations in Indonesia and has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance and project finance and capital markets. Mrs. Muljadi is regularly ranked by the like of "Who's Who Legal" as among Indonesia's leading lawyers in these fields.

KF LaiDr KF Lai is co-founder and chief executive officer of BuzzCity, one of world’s leading mobile media companies in the development and marketing of mobile services and entertainment to a global audience. Prior to founding BuzzCity, Dr Lai worked as an applied researcher in laboratories funded by the Singapore government, specializing in pattern recognition and text retrieval. He graduated with First Class Honours in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore and obtained his Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Martin B. HartonoMartin starts his career as Business Technology Director in PT Djarum. In Djarum, he leads implementation of various enterprise systems applications, such as ERP (SAP), Supply Chain Management, several in-house developed applications, mobile applications, and knowledge management applications (Social Office, e-mail, and instant messaging). Today, he is the Director at GDP Venture (the leading strategic investor specializing in Indonesian Internet companies). His involvement in the Indonesian internet world starts when he invested in an e-commerce website called blibli.com. In March 2011, GDP Venture invested in Kaskus.us, the most popular and successful startup in Indonesia. Through Merah Putih Inc., Martin actively supports entrepreneurship in Indonesia by incubating various Internet startups such as Lintas.me, infokost.net, DailySocial.net, krazymarket.com, and more.

Steve ChristianIn 2003, Steve co-founded KapanLagi.com, now, the biggest entertainment site in Indonesia. In 2004, one of his other Internet companies, CelebrityWonder.com, a media company which published Esquire and TV ESPN network, was purchased by Hearst Media/UGO New York. Steve is also active in 5 other technology companies which are dealing in internet gaming, application service provider, and media.

Steve MelhuishSteve Melhuish, CEO and Co-Founder, AllProperty Media (PropertyGuru) - Entrepreneur with 20 years experience building businesses in Asia and Europe. He co-founded PropertyGuru in 2006 and has helped develop the business into the leading property site in Singapore today, used by 1.7 million consumers monthly as well as launching www.CommercialGuru.com.sg (Singapore's only commercial property portal) and www.LoanGuru.com.sg (online mortgage brokerage). Steve focuses primarily on business development, sales and marketing activities and personally manages C-level relationships with key clients/partners. He led the successful private funding process in 2008. Steve is the primary spokesperson for PropertyGuru and is frequently interviewed in the press on property and business matters. Prior to PropertyGuru, Steve was CEO of an Asian social network firm; an advisor to digital media and venture capital firms and start-ups in Asia and Europe including Skype, AOL, Virgin Media, Vodafone, Extreme Media, iPass and Ariadne Capital. Steve has led global teams and managed a US$500 million turnover business unit for Cable & Wireless. Steve is a non-executive director for two other firms, an angel investor and member of the Business Angels Network South East Asia. In 2007, Steve was awarded the Spirit of Enterprise Award, in recognition of his contributions to entrepreneurship in Singapore.

Steven GohSteven is well experienced in developing and delivering successful Internet services for consumers, having first founded Australia’s first online stock brokerage company Sanford Securities Limited, prior to co-founding mig33. Steven is recognized as an authority on contemporary IT issues, with extensive private and public board experience, has served as a keynote speaker and panelists conferences throughout U.S. Australia and Asia. Steven received both a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA from the University of Western Australia.

Toto SugiriIn 1989, Toto founded Sigma Cipta Caraka, which was acquired by PT Telkom Indonesia. While he was a Chairman there, Toto had a vision that every employee of Sigma Cipta Caraka should one day be an entrepreneur. Toto also founded Balicamp in 1999, a software development company located in Bali, and IndoInternet in 1995.
