HERITAGE TIGER ENCLOSURE

The enclosure was built about 125 years ago by the founders of the zoo, the then, His Highness Sawai Jai Singh. The enclosure has a deep moat of 18' depth.

HERITAGE TIGER ENCLOSURE…

The paddock area is designed in such a way that tiger passes through a small cage which can very well be used as a squeeze-cage in case of any treatment etc. is required.

Viewing is excellent where one can view at 360 degree.

The ceiling of the retiring chambers has been designed in very nice manner to provide sun light and air to the chambers with no rain water inlet.

Water-sprinklers have been erected in the paddock area to counter the extreme heat conditions.

NEW TIGER ENCLOSURE

This was constructed about 30 year ago. The size of moat has been considerably reduced as compared to the heritage tiger enclosure though we have retained the heritage look in the paddock area.

An artificial cave type structure fully ventilated from all sides has been constructed.

NEW TIGER ENCLOSURE…

Sprinklers have been installed to combat the heat during the hot weathers and hotter part of the day.

In order to provide natural surroundings to the tigers, gentle slope has been maintained. The overall public view of the enclosure is excellent.

BEAR ENCLOSURE

Earlier, the bear enclosure was underground and it was almost a well type structure so the visitors used to view from top.

New bear enclosure has been constructed in which a cave type entry has been provided.

It is a moated enclosure with loose soil on top so as to provide the Bear some digging space where the bottom is almost pucca.

Ventilation of the enclosures is very good.

Retiring chambers for the animals have been provided with cooling ducts so that there can be noiseless cooling effect.

Impressed by the beauty of the enclosure the Google team has selected its picture for display on Google Earth.

SPOTTED DEER ENCLOSURE

There were number of big trees in Chital enclosure

earlier .Chitals used to rub their antlers to these trees, resulting in peeling off the

bark of the trees and hurting animals too

To mitigate this situation we have

placed big tree guards.

New trees have also been planted to provide greenery and natural shade.

A thatch hut has also been erected inside the enclosure to provide a respite during scorching heat of the summers.
