01Profile

i am a recent ba(hons) graduate in architecture from newcastle university with a 2:1 degree. architecture is something i am passionate about because it encompasses and encourages the need to accumulate a wide body of knowledge. i also admire how architects and designers make decisions which have a huge impact on the way we live, interact with one another and the world around us.

i am currently interested in the design of public buildings. in particular how public and private elements are intertwined within them. Sustainable technologies and new methods of manufacture are also important to me. i feel that more new ‘sustainable’ buildings need to have a greater sense of fun, rather than taking themselves too seriously.

Committee member of Newcastle’s first architecture, Planning & landscape yearbook.

elected to the post of representative for the newcastle university School of architecture, Planning and landscape.

former head of Publicity for newcastle university architecture Society (nuaS). responsibilities included posters, brochures, membership cards and website design and make-up.

awarded the drama and design & technology Prizes in my final year of secondary school.

led a camp of 60 children during summer ’07, for which i was awarded by my peers for outstanding leadership, commitment and enthusiasm.

11 GcSe’s – 3 ‘a stars’ and 8 ‘a’ grades.

3 a levels – Geography (a), design and technology (a) and theatre Studies (a).

everything else

other passions include a huge enthusiasm for performing, directing, producing and designing set for theatre – as well as watching performances. I also have interests in photography and films (with particular fondness for japanese anime).

i also recently took part in a fund-raising event which involved a hitch-hike from newcastle to morocco in aid of Sub-Sahara african schools. it took three of us six days from newcastle!

architectural experience arupSport. assistant (july ’09) responsibilities included scale model construction and layout, editing and make-up of detailed design sheets for client submission – working to weekly deadlines.

ash Sakula. assistant (Summer ‘11)responsibilities included fast-paced design work of a tightly planned new build whilst simultaneously creating a physical and digital model to communicate these ideas for a competition bid.

maaP architects. assistant (august ‘11 - ongoing)responsibilities have included preparation towards multiple work packages (Planning, fire, costing, contractor’s Proposal etc) in addition to tasks relating to landscape, facade & detail design. all work is undertaken in an advanced bim environment.
