You must bring your tickets to gain entry to the show. Each of you will be amazed at our fantastic talented students and surprise teacher performance! April 9 and 10 brings the Kindergarten registration process here to JES! Please make sure you let friends, neighbors and contacts know to complete the request form, so an appointment can be made. I am very excited to meet our new incoming kindergarten families and students. Please make sure you read carefully the Nurse’s notes section. It has some helpful reminders on keeping your child healthy during the winter months. This is also a great time to double check your child’s school supplies. Pencils and glue may be dwindling. Just a friendly reminder….If you are dropping off your child in the morning in the carpool line students please take a minute to review the drop off procedures listed below. Following these will help maintain a safe drop off for all students

Message from the Principal: Greetings. February will bring a “flurry” of events and happenings

here at our school. Please make sure you check the calendar to keep up on

all the fun!

Report cards will be send home on February 1st. Please contact your

child’s classroom teacher should you wish to schedule a conference to

follow up.

We are excited for the JES Talent Show on February 9th at 6 PM. The

show is sold out! You must bring your tickets to gain entry to the show.

Each of you will be amazed at our fantastic talented students and surprise

teacher performance!

April 9 and 10 brings the Kindergarten registration process here to

JES! Please make sure you let friends, neighbors and contacts know to

complete the request form, so an appointment can be made. I am very

excited to meet our new incoming kindergarten families and students.

Please make sure you read carefully the Nurse’s notes section. It has

some helpful reminders on keeping your child healthy during the winter

months. This is also a great time to double check your child’s school

*Only drop off at the parking lot side of the "Student Drop-Off Zone" where

the signs are posted.

*Have your child/children prepared to exit the vehicle immediately on the

passenger side ONLY when pulled up to the "Student Drop-Off-Zone" area.

(Remember, there are other cars waiting to pull up and drop off.)

* Drivers are not to drop off children anywhere else other than at the

designated "Student Drop-Off Zone."

*Remember that children are to exit from the vehicle using the car door

facing the building. Never have a child exit into the parking lot on the

opposite side.

*Please wait your turn in the line of cars to drop off your children. Do not

try to pass on the left side of the line of cars.

*Please do not block the entrance to the school. Allow buses to pass on the

right, and keep cars to the left of the entrance. Please make sure enough

space is left for cars to exit Overshot.

As always I am so proud of all the hard work that our students and teachers

are showing each day! We are indeed a school making progress! I hope you

have a fantastic February!

Jacksonville Elementary 2018/2019

Kindergarten Registration

Jacksonville Elementary will be holding its 2018-2019 school year registration on April 9 & 10th 2018.

The appointment day and time will be assigned for your child. An informational packet will be mailed a few

weeks before the registration date. This registration is intended for children who will be entering kindergarten

in the fall, as well as children who are currently attending kindergarten in private schools but plan to enroll at

Jacksonville Elementary for first grade for the 2018-2019 school year. Children entering kindergarten next

year must be five years of age by September 1, 2018. Children entering first grade must be six years of age by

September 1, 2018.

If you will be registering your child or know someone who will be registering a child, please complete/have

them complete this form and return it to the school office. Please do not contact the office regarding an

appointment. A packet of information (including an appointment date & time) will be sent home

approximately one month prior to the registration day. A letter will be enclosed outlining the items

needed for the registration.

Stakeholders Satisfaction Survey

The BCPS stakeholder Satisfaction Survey will be available starting January 29th at www.bcps.org for Team BCPS stakeholders: students in Grades 3-12, Parents/guardians, community members, and staff. The survey take only 5 minutes to complete, is confidential, and is available in 16 languages for parents/guardians and community members. The survey has also been customized to that there are different, but related, questions depending on role. Those who are BCPS parents and also work for BCPS, or who have children in more than one BCPS school, are encouraged to take the survey more than once to reflect those experiences. PLEASE TAKE A FEW MOMENTS TO CONPLETE THE SURVEY

WHAT IS RESTORATIVE PRACTICES? Restorative practices, which evolved from restorative justice, has the potential to

positively influence human behavior and strengthen civil society around the

world.

Restorative practices builds healthy communities, increases social capital,

reduces the impact of crime, decreases antisocial behavior, repairs harm and

restores relationships.
