I work at Hallmark, and I love chocolate, bubble baths, snooze buttons, channel surfing, and singing to the radio. I love Panera Bread and Caribou Coffee. Slide 3 Jackie Bretz3 My parents My mom: we love to go out to breakfast, movies, shopping, coffee, laying out in the sun, and baking cookies. My dad: we like to pick on my mom, he takes me shopping when I beg him, and even if he is in the library studying (because he is also a student) he picks up his phone to talk to me. Even though he pretends that he is glad that I am at school, he doesnt like the house quiet. Slide 4 Jackie Bretz4 My brother My brother Danny is my best friend. We can hate each other and love each other at the same time, and we thrive on arguing and making fun of our parents. Slide 5 Jackie Bretz5 Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents On my dads side of the family, I am the second oldest of 14 cousins, ages ranging from 8 months to 20 years old. My grandparents and 10 aunts and uncles all live in Michigan but we try to visit each other several times a year. VH1 Save The Music Slide 7 Jackie Bretz7 Friends from home I love my friends from home. In high school we had our group of friends, and we were inseparable. I have known my best friend Carmen since kindergarten, and we do everything together. Us girls love to get together and watch movies, paint nails, and play games, but we also like hanging out with the guys bowling or to the movies. Even though we are all off at schools, some in other states, it is like nothing has changed when we get back home and get together. She and I have been friends since 7 th grade, and her Tracy, Corrie and I are always together. I have lived with my roommate Danielle for two years, and we have met so many new friends just by walking around the floor. We hang out at the guys house, and we watch movies, sing karaoke, and play card games. I have also met a lot of people through the music department. Since we are all in music classes and ensembles together, we get to know each other very well. My family and I have been to Mexico, Hawaii, Florida, and Colorado. We have family in different places around the country and it is a lot of fun driving or flying and spending time with my parents and brother. Mexico Slide 11 Jackie Bretz 11 Chicago I was born in Chicago and I still love to visit downtown and spend the day shopping or just walking around Navy Pier. This past summer my friends and I went to the Taste of Chicago and had so much fun just walking around and experiencing the joys of the city. I love going to the Shedd Aquarium to see the fish or the Art Institute to admire the artwork or numerous individuals. I was the drum major of the marching band, and I was also in the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra, and Acapella Choir. I was also on the soccer team, yearbook committee, and I was the secretary of the Spanish Club for two out of four years. I am in Illinois Collegiate Music Educators Association, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Alpha Eta, and Education Scholars. I am in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and Mixed Choir. I would like to conduct a band or orchestra and pass on to kids my love and passion for music. I eventually want to get my doctorate in music and teach at the college level.
