PERSONAL STATEMENT
Having graduated from a multi-discipline architectural engineering degree with a variety of placements, I now possess a broad range of skills, ideal to bring to fruition innovative holistic design. These interdisciplinary skills were further honed with over a year’s professional industry experience fulfilling a wide range of roles within firms of a varying scale.
The universal benefit of having a potentially truly holistic design process between disciplines really motivates me to deepen my understanding of the various software packages the industry relies upon. The future of the industry excites me a great deal and to be at the forefront of it drives me forward.
Whilst at the multidisciplinary firm TATA Steel Projects I gained professional experience, providing me with familiarity with a number of software packages, notably Revit and Navisworks. As well as the technical skills my placements enabled me to appreciate the importance of communication and co-ordination between disciplines, client, contractor and external bodies.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Roost Architects, Ilkley• 04/2016 - 06/2016Architectural Assistant / Technician
• Visualisation creation, surveying, building regulations drawings production for both new build and existing residential projects for a tiny one person practise.
• Absorbing design skills as the architect talked thoroughly through our projects.• Overshadowing other general construction business skills and client interactions.
TATA Steel Projects, York • 09/2014 - 07/2015Architectural Assistant / Technician
• Templeborough Biomass Facility: Assisting in architectural coordinating, leading both project BIM coordination and architectural modelling.
• Re-desiging the site’s circulation concept. Multidisciplinary perspective.• Worked with 4 young architects for Sessay community hub RIBA contest.• Modelling , detailing and issuing drawings for Leeds RERF, the world’ s largest
single irrigation system green wall / the UK’s biggest timber arch.• Civ/Infra Engineering for the ECM train line. Delegating drawings out.• Visualisation research. Taking Revit models into a gaming engine.
Future World Designs, Leeds • 06/2014 - 12/2014 Concept Designer/ 3-D Modeller / Visualiser
• Modelling and rendering of super tall towers for a 600+ page environmental book called Zero-fifty. Taught by an expert modeller from AEDAS. (As well as being a top modeller at AEDAS, he was their sustainability champion, and therefore I learnt a great deal about sustainable design.)
TATA Steel Projects, York • 08/2013 (2 weeks student placement)Architectural Assistant / Structural Engineer
• Modelling / detailing on the green wall for Leeds RERF, the largest single irrigation system green wall in the world.
• Preliminary design of the structural steel frame for the green wall mentioned above, using CSC building designer.
Bauman Lyons Architects, Leeds • 07/2013 (1 week student placement)Architectural Assistant / Researcher
• Concept design for a garden pavilion within the grounds of the office.• Research on “The Bullitt Centre, SA”, the most environmentally / ecologically
friendly office in the world (until recently) for a book publication.

PROGRAMMES
OTHER INTERESTS
I have a keen interest in music culture and feel that this could provide additional career opportunities in several spheres.
As a self-taught bass player my six year experience now sees my branching out into new instruments, for example the harmonica. In my leisure time I attend gigs with friends, and I find myself becoming increasingly aware of the ‘architectural’ (in the wider sense) whilst attending these.
A motivated and talented individual wishing to obtain a career in the field of architecture and engineering that will further develop a profound understanding of design, visualisation and modelling
Other programmes I am familiar with:
Dynamo (Grasshopper for Revit), ABAQUS (FEA), Autodesk Vehicle Tracking, MATLAB, IES (Building services virtual environment), CSC Building Designer, Robot, Karamba (Grasshopper), B.Microstation.
