The J-45, quietly introduced while America wasfighting World War II, represents the perfection ofa round shoulder body style that began in the1930s with Gibsons Jumbo and J-35 models. Thesunburst J-45 and natural-finish J-50, with theirspare ornamentation and rich tone, became theperfect companion for the musician who is allabout playing music. The J-45 also served as themodel for such famous Gibson flat-tops as theSouthern Jumbo played by Woody Guthrie and the

J-160E acoustic/electric used extensively by theBeatles.

More than any other guitar, the J-45 defines thefamous Gibson flat-top sound. Today it heads upan entire family of round shoulder models,including the fancier Southern Jumbo, therosewood-body Advanced Jumbo and theaffordable Working Man 45.
