-......- .. ...--...---THE PECK FMUL Y

by William ';GreerPe'ck, 5705 Rosario, Atascadero., California, 93422.

The auther begins by pointing out that there are two. different lines ofPecks that were pioneers to.Arqerica--the English Pecl{s,~fremLondon 'andthe German Pecks from' Ebingen, ,Germany. This book deals with theGerman line •

. . .Theauther depicts each ancester in shortbiegraphical sketches givingdates ef birth, death, marriage, etc. so ,other researche.rs may tracetheir own lines thru those listed. The ske~ches begin with Hans Beckborn in 1513. He died ef bubenic plague March 13, 1593.

The first Peck to come to America was Johann Jakeb Beck Jr. born J~ly, 7,1723~ He died in Virginia in 1800. He changed his name from Beck to.Peck to eliminate the confusion caused by the German pronunciationo'fBeck to sound like Peck in English.

The line is carried thru David S. Peck who came to.Tennessee about. "1837. He died in Davidson. Co.., Tenn. in 1843. After his death his wifemoved with her children to Robertson Co.

Related families also included in this boek are Balthrop, Crutcher,Goetz, Greer, Head and Rosson. Descendants ef these families arebrought down to the present generations. Descendants are found netonly here in Montgo:r:neryCo., Robertson Co.., a.nd near by areas, but arescattered from California. to Florida.

The beok contains a full nameihdex and many pictures of the families.

This 170'page book is a bargin at $15.00. A,-researcher would have tospend this much, ff not much more, on postage alone, not to mentionthe untold hours of work, to amass the information contained in t~isvolum~. Mr. Peck should be commended fordeing such an excellent job.--------,. .._-----------------------------,-,-THE RIVER COUNTIES, Jill K.
