The Board convened for business and reviewing credentials of physicians applying for license by endorsement of credentials. RE: Stephen Lee Kash, M. D , P. A. Coastal Carolina Eye Clinic, P. A. Wilmington, North Carolina -- Dr. Kash requested that the corporate name of Coastal Carolina Eye Clinic, P. A. , be approved for his use. It was moved, seconded, and duly passed the the corporate name Coastal Carolina Eye Clinic, P. A. , be appropriately filed and recorded with the Board of Medical Examiners. RE: Forsyth County Ambulance Service, Winston-Salem, North Carolina The Board reviewed information from this service. It was moved, seconded, and duly passed that this report be accepted as information. RE: George David Webster, M. D. , Durham, North Carolina -- Dr. Webster is requesting a geographically unlimited license so that he can practice and teach in other parts of the state rather than to be limited to Durham and Orange counties. It was moved, seconded, and duly passed that the Board cease the practice of issuing geographically limited licenses for applicants holding immigrant status, and that all physicians wishing to convert their geographi- cally limited licenses will be charged a conversion fee of $25. 00. It was further moved, seconded, and duly passed that Dr. Webster be written a let- ger requesting him to return his old license and informing him that, as soon as it is received along with a fee' of $25. 00, he will be issued a license without a geographical limitation. RE: Gordon Talmadge Blair, M. D. , Charlotte, North Carolina -- It was moved, seconded, and duly passed that, once documentation of graduation from medical school has been received regarding an application for licensure, fur- ther documentation is not necessary for another type of licensure, and that the Board may accept two letters of re'commendation already furnished plus one up- dating letter of recommendation and a long-term letter. RE: Executive Council Meeting of North Carolina Medical Society -- Dr. Galusha reported on his meeting with the NCMS. (1) He discussed maintaining our creditability with the Medical Society. We had assured them that we would not go up more than $15. 00 on registration fees. Now we wish to increase this amount to a maximum of 925. 00, and (2) Dr. Galusha stated that he had expressed the Board's concern about Physician Extenders and the fact that we may have, indeed, reached a saturation point in thisi state. Board meetings require that a great deal of time be spent on extenders. and a great deal of time is spent in maintaining office records on Physician Extenders. This matter has been referred to the Allied Health Committee, and we will receive a report back on April 1. The President of the Board commended Dr. Galusha on his report, and the Board agreed that there should be a study in North Carolina on Physician Extenders.

RE: Stephen Lee Kash, M. D , P.A. — Coastal Carolina Eye Clinic, P.A.Wilmington, North Carolina -- Dr. Kash requested that the corporate

name of Coastal Carolina Eye Clinic, P.A. , be approved for his use. It wasmoved, seconded, and duly passed the the corporate name Coastal Carolina EyeClinic, P.A. , be appropriately filed and recorded with the Board of MedicalExaminers.

RE: Shikarpur R. Sastry, M. D. , Morganton, North Carolina -- It wasmoved, seconded, and duly passed that the Executive Secretary's action re-garding Dr. Sastry be approved.

RE: John Thomas Wilson, M. D.i, Fort Pierce, Florida -- It was moved,seconded, and duly passed that Dr. '

RE: August, 1980, Board Meeting -- It was moved, seconded, and dulypassed that the Board meet in Asheville in August of 1980.

RE: Charles Compton Barton, M. D. , Hackensack, New Jersey -- It wasmoved, seconded, and duly passed that Dr. Barton's application for license topractice medicine be denied.

RE: Joint Practice Committee; -- Dr. Reynolds presented a report in-dicating that the Joint Practice Committee has been attempting to standar-dize the Nurse Practitioner Program. The Joint Practice Committee has agreedto the concept that each nurse practitioner should have a core curriculum asa basis for her education. It was. moved, seconded, and duly passed that theBoard reaffirm its support of this concept.

RE: Registered Nurses Performing Medical Acts, Subcommittee ReportDr. Reynolds, Chairperson of the Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursingand the Board of Medical Examiners, reported on the meeting held earlier duringthis Board meeting. The Subcommittee approved the University of VirginiaNurse Practitioner Program for Emergency Nurse Practitioners and the MA Programfor Nurse Practitioners at the Uni'versity of Rochester.
