Mind body - spirity B y intentionally, and consistently training the mind to becalm, you gain access into your deeper self; your spiritual self.y W hen the mind is calm the body maintains homeostasis; an
agitated restless mind stimulate the stress response and takethe body out of homeostasis; consistent stress is the source of
most psychological, and physiological diseases, and prematuredeath.y The mind and the body function as one unit, therefore training
the mind will impact the body; create freedom from mentalmovements.

Mental Fitness:
A mind that is mentally fit goes through a series of intentional practices to create calmness and ease. A calm mind is subdued, no longer affected by thoughts,feelings, and images, knows how to observe, choose,and let go. A t this stage intention replaces reactivity,
wisdom replaces confusion, peace serenity and loving-kindness deepen our quality of life and balances our
psychology, which gives us access to the mind deepernature, our higher self; authentic spirituality, and itsnatural healing resources, to unity consciousnessDacher, (2006); health, wholeness, and happiness.

Calming the mindy The first exercise in achieving mental fitness is the
loving-kindness practice.
yBe aware of your mental activities; sensations,thoughts, and images that your mind gravitatetowards; observing them causes them to disappear.
y Using the breath as a focal point, express loving-
kindness to yourself and your life.y Using the breath as a focal point ceases the chatter,
and clutter in your mind. focus on the breath and onthe silence.

Exercises for mental fitnessy Meditation : for a moment focus your attention to
everything around you, all the sights, sounds, andsensations that are present, slowly inhale and exhale, five
times; make sure you are in a comfortable position.Intentionally turn your attention to your breath; close youreyes, observe the rate of your inhalation and exhalation,dont try adjust anything, just keep your focus andattention on your breath. If your mind gets distracted formthe breath, gently bring it back. W hen your are ready
repeat to yourself, May we be filled with loving-kindnessmay we be well, may we be peaceful and at ease may we behappy. Open your eyes and slowly ease your self back to what you need to do next.
