Section 2: Scope of works
Brief description of the works to be carried out:
Work to be carried out within the service ducts / under crofts (x2) and boiler
room. Removal of asbestos insulation residues and debris from walls / floors / pipe
work and associated hangar brackets. Carry out a full environmental clean of the affected areas.
Details of site specific working methods if different from those stated in J C
Asbestos Solutions standard procedures:
Site and set up the DCU prior to the start of any works.
Establish transit / waste routes, and clearly mark out using barrier tape. Pre-clean areas where air / bag locks are to be sited.
Pipe work with asbestos residues will be removed using a wrap and cut technique.
All pipe hangar brackets will be removed and disposed of as asbestos waste.
Walls / floors / surfaces will be vacuumed using H type vacuum cleaners. Stubborn residues will be removed using hand tools (scrapers / wire brushes)
whilst shadow vacuuming using H vacs. Siting of negative pressure units – where possible existing access covers will be
use to site the units. If no existing access covers are available then access will be made through the concrete floor (Refer to note2 below)
Siting of 3 stage air / bag locks – as with the negative pressure units above the duct system. (Refer to note 1 below)
NOTES:
Where necessary access will be required through the timber floors above the under
crofts in this event the following process will be carried out:
1. Where ever possible it is proposed to utilise the already existing access points
in order to access / egress the works. If there is a requirement to make additional holes for safety reasons they would be no greater than 1.5m2 and
we confirm that they would be carefully lifted and re-laid. We also confirm that photographs and condition surveys will be taken in agreement with the
council before, during and after all asbestos removal works.
Additional access into service duct through concrete floors above service ducts:
2. We do not envisage that this will be necessary. If it was however necessary the areas would be saw cut, lifted out and replaced / “made good” so as to
not impact on the condition of the floors.
