Congratulations to Tanner Stambaugh for being chosen

for Student of the Month for the Month of April!

Mrs. Prueher wrote “I am recommending Tanner Stambaugh for the

pillar of trustworthiness. I can ALWAYS count on Tanner to show

trustworthiness in the classroom every day. He is willing to try and

try again even when things are difficult. Tanner can always be

counted on to follow directions in and out of the classroom. I can

count on Tanner to do any classroom job without hesitation and he

never complains. Tanner is the role model that other students look to

in my classroom. It is my pleasure to recommend Tanner for the

Student of the Month.”

******ATTENTION: CHANGE IN TIME FOR BAND CONCERT*******

The annual Spring Band Concert will be on Thursday, April 9, at 6:00 p.m. All are invited! Any 4th graders that are interested in joining band next year should try to come out and check it out! It might help you decide which instrument you might like to play!

The final performance of the year will be on Friday, May 1. This will be a district-wide band concert at Combs High School, and will involve students from every school in the district! This gala event will begin at 7:00, in the large gym, and will involve over 200 band students district-wide - this is one you don't want to miss!

Here are some strategies on how to help your students be ready for the AZMerit

test. First, make sure your student has a well-established routine for eating and

sleeping starting now. Being nourished and rested helps ensure that students are

able to focus. Second, encourage your students that this is an opportunity to

“show off” to the state just how much they have learned this year and that it is

important to try their personal best. While they do not get an individual grade on

the test, the school as a whole does and we want to put our best effort forth. Last-

ly, make sure that your student spends the next couple of weeks reviewing the

materials they have learned all year long. The test is comprehensive and covers

everything that students were taught, beginning all the way back in August.

Remember that Harmon Elementary needs at least 95% of our students to com-

plete their tests in order to be in compliance with the state- so please make sure

your child is here for all testing days and try to avoid scheduling any appoint-

ments during the testing window. Thank you for helping ensure your student is

able to shine their brightest on AZMerit!

Our monthly PTSO meeting will be held on April 7th in library at 6pm. We will be discussing nominations for new board members for next school year and also our upcoming carnival. Our Spring Carnival will be held on April 24th from 5-8pm. We are in need of many volunteers, please email [email protected] if you are able to help out.

Physical Education

Mrs. Baldenegro—[email protected]

Harmon Hawks did such an awesome job

raising funds for the American Heart Associ-

ation during our Jump Rope for Heart event

in February. We had a goal to raise $2,000

and surpassed that goal by $282. The students

were able to vote for the activity they wanted

to play for one week as a reward on top of all

the stuff they received from AHA.

AZ Merit testing is coming up and I am excit-

ed to encourage “brain food” during breaks in

the test. Studies show that the brain is active

when the body is active. During breaks in the

test, students will have the opportunity to

move to music out on the field with me to get

oxygen to the brain. Parents can help by en-

suring your child gets plenty of sleep and a

well-balanced breakfast to start the day off

right.

Thank you for supporting our spring (buy one get one free) book fair, it

was a huge success! We were able to give away over $2500 in free

books! Our lollipop tree raised $148 for the scholastic program All for

Books. As a result, Scholastic will donate 148 books to a children’s char-

ity. Thanks again for your support!
