I am just taking a shot in the dark and wondering if you may have something that I might be able to use. Nancy Jim was my father's mother and she was married to William Anders POINDEXTER,22 JUNE,1882. She was born ~ 2 Feb. 1863, Moore County, Tenn. I am interested in finding her parents. Her father supposedly dided in the Civil War same day she was born and her mother may have married a BIAS. Dear Mrs. Malone:

Mrs. E. ,T.Malone

Unravelling the \/Jhitlocksis proving to be a nigh-impossible task L Too many-J--fires

and not enoggh persons collating to establish proof of things. I wish I had the time and

ability to fit together the many pieces to see if a "picture'" would emerge. I have a x

sneaking feeling that someone will soon come on the scene who will be enough of a lucky

:'Jetective to solve some of the enigmas •.

Have you been in communication with Hester Garrett, 1619 Clifton Stree~~ Lansing, Mich.48910. We share the commen ancestor, Thomas Whitlock, who migrated to Green County,Ky. in

1813 from Buckingham County, Virginia in common with his wife, Rebecca Hadford ~lhitlock and

their many children. She, Hester, has written a genealogy in which she has a section on

the iVhitlocks. She might just be the one who can now break the code for us.

I suspect my line will be established throuc~h the Henrico County, Va. Will book 1,page 308, dated 1/11/1786. This is the will of Mary Whitlock and names John, Thomas, Sarah

\rJhitlock and dau. Elizabeth Warner. The reason I think this is my connecting and missing link

rests, shabbily and unlegally, on the fact that one of my great grandfatheps sisters, a dau.

of my Thomas, was Elizabeth "larner vlhitlock and can be proven. She married Christopher Sandidg

in Green County aIld her descendants are legion. I have started gathering up t~e names, etc. ofher descendants.

I don't know if Mary ~fuitlock was Mary Williamson--the one who m. Thomas in 1756 and had

Elizabeth, Lucy(could this be Sarah mentionema in above will?), John, born 1760, and Thomasborn 1762?

Douglas Register for Goochland County lists John \lJhitlockmarrying in 17% to Ann Logan and

had issue: Thomas b 1757; John born 1759; Sarah, born 1762; James, burn 1764;:Sally born1766; amrlR Michal, born 17721 This data sent me by Hester. ft~sp: John Whitlock married in

Goochland Co in 1774 to Sarah Edwards and they had Milly born 1774. And, an~ther Thomas who

m. 6/9/1776 to Sally Henderson by whom he had Elizabeth, born 1777 and Sara who was born

1781. And, she vJrites, quoting Douglas Register for Goochland County, ,John Whitlock m. in

1756 to CaJhherineBarR~t,by whom he had TJrsley bo 1756;:Ti'annyborn 1758, andJordan born 1760"and Jean born 1764.

The Mormons in Salt Lake City have records of &§limed descent of someone who descends

.fro Ann Logan and John \'lhitlock---a }frs. Km~r, if I can recall her name--in Idaho, I believe.

Also, a Mrs. Beatrice S~enson, a Mormon in one of your nearby states has done a great dealof research in what may be your interests. I can't give you more correct data now since I

sent that material to someone in West Virginia a month ago with the request that it be returned forthwith since I had not made a copy of the data 'lITehad received and had forwarded

her. I'll be writing this woman right now and asking her to net\ITn. I sent it to her the

same day I'd received a leti:,erfrom her j.nl.rhichshe had assured me that a real genealogistwas now on the Whitlock trail and she eXDected a breakthrough.

Sincerely yours
