Why  is  this  important  to  the  US  Navy?

8

From Dennis Taitano’s 6 April 2010 IUID brief.

IUID and the IUID Registry play key roles in the Navy’s plans to achieve the auditability mandate.

Page 9: IUID Registry Training

Why  is  this  important  to  the  US  Navy?

•  Few  argue  these  days  that  we  are  entering  challenging  financial  3mes.

 •  Failing  to  achieve  the  financial  accountability  requirements  in  the  FY10  NDAA  is  unlikely  to  help  support  the  Navy’s  financial  priori3es.

Access  To  The  Registry

How  can  you  put  informa3on  into  the  Registry  and/or  get  informa3on  out?

10

one-way transfer Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) used to add UII records to the IUID Registry and to update existing records

Two way data transfer over the internet HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) used to add IUID records, update existing records and retrieving information about existing records. (https://iuid.logisticsinformationservice.dla.mil )

Many other DoD systems communicate through the Global Exchange Service (GEX)

Database to Database communication Specifically Oracle to Oracle used to add UII records to update existing records and to retrieve information about existing records .mil (DECC) to .mil (DECC)

Application Programming Interface (API) Two way data transfer over the internet using HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) used to retrieving information about existing records.

Different API’s have different capabilities and use different internet

web addresses.
